Bloated scopes are ruining the industry? Nah, can't be. In all seriousness, AAA has forgotten the first rule of game design - if it doesn't support the core experience, it should be cut. And it is not the designers, but the execs that made games a long time ago that need to remember it.

We need games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Balatro, and Peak as a cure for the "fear" in the industry, say experts www.gamesradar.com/games/we-nee...

Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12

Honestly, I can't even be mad that I can barely get an interview for a game design role nowadays. I mean, I am competing with people that have worked on things like Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Thief. It only makes sense.

I may or may not have made a new free plugin for Godot, this time under the MIT license. Do you need to remap game controls at runtime? I've got you covered! I just need to document it and upload it to the Godot Asset Store: github.com/dastmo/Godot... #GameDev #Godot #MadeWithGodot #IndieDev #

Last night I discovered that I have matured past the point of finding "Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny" funny. Honestly, the world lost some of its colour with that realization.

Financial circumstances mean I am available, possibly even a little desperate, for freelance gigs that can use my abiltiies as a writer (Cryptmaster, Valheim, Ironheart etc) and voice actor (Cryptmaster). Anyone who can pump the visibility on this will have my eternal(ish) gratitude!

The worst part about the video game layoffs of the past three years is that a significant portion of them are probably not covered by any media. And are therefore unaccounted for in all the stats-tracking websites. I was laid off from Snapshot Games, alongside 33 of my coworkers. 1/2

Most games are dogs. They aim to please, even when challenging you, they are ultimately an encouraging friend. Imsims are cats. They might be friendly, cute and enjoyable, but they are there doing their own thing, and interactions may lead to unforeseen outcomes. I’m more of a cat person.

*raises hand* What’s an immersive sim (imsim)? Usually context clues help me, but it seems like a big tent and I don’t quite get it

I am urgently reminding people that while this era of shoehorned ai slop will pass, you get to decide if you publicly complimented the emperor’s beautiful outfit or not. Credibility is tough to rebuild

The worst part about making a local multiplayer game is that when it comes time to playtest it, you must either settle for a non-gamer wife and a five-year-old kid or you need to somehow convince people to actually physically come over. And that's almost impossible since COVID. #GameDev #IndieDev
