a reason that Stevens lost and other AIPAC candidates are losing despite the huge infusions of money is that Dem voters don't want to vote for a candidate who is funded by the same org who will immediately turn around and fund the Republicans

Even though we disagreed on much, he was always willing to negotiate, with humor and wit. My heart goes out to his loved ones.
Really frustrating to see this when they struck gold with The 3 Body Problem, and then immediately suffocated it. It had everything going for it: an epic and complete story, proven producers, and great actors.

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social · 2mo agoSteyer is tracking to lose to Hilton by ~1% so there are a lot of factors that could have made the difference, but it's pretty clear that if Trump hadn't endorsed Hilton (either no endorsement or Bianco instead) we'd be looking at a D vs D general election.
This is what drives me nuts about the Platner discourse. People talk like it’s either him or a Republican. There’s a vastly more qualified and progressive candidate already running.

I have a literal masters degree in public health, I’m an actual union leader (in my second term as chapter president,) I’m a college professor, and a reproductive health advocate. And people are quibbling over if he abused his exes enough to be disqualifying.
The choice is simple: a California for corporations, or a California for Californians. Return your ballots to a drop box as soon as you can and vote by tomorrow.

Didn't get the job I was deeply hoping for, unfortunately. Need a remote TypeScript senior/staff-level position as soon as possible.
One thing that does not get talked about often enough is intelligence/token. For example, Qwen3.5 9B has a much higher artificial analysis score than Granite 4.1 8B. But if you compare the output tokens required to run the eval, it tells a different story.
David Sainez@davidsainez.com · 2mo agoAh, right. Reminds me of this writeup: www.levs.fyi/blog/2-years.... They found that a model with weaker general benchmarks (nova lite) preformed about the same as sonnet 4.5 on the classification task.
This attempted refutation is incorrect. 1. They also looked at couples rather than households and found it was still true 2. It is also true for market incomes by age 30 (the early 20’s lag is easily explained by more education time) 3. The square root adjustment is standard statistical practice.

It's not "how much did this person in Gen Z make" it's "how much was the total income of the household the Gen Z person lived in divided by the square root of the number of members." 4/
Boom. Vulnerable House GOPer says he's going to try to kill Trump's slush fund via a legislative option. This confirms what I argue below, that this is an impossible thing for vulnerable Rs to defend.
