While publicly shaming bigots can be useful towards equality, after a certain point, you are just amplifying hate speech. It's a delicate balance that too many in media fail miserably at.

There is something profoundly cruel about the timing of such a statement being made and/or released. Of course, this is something that we, as trans people, probably now expect when we enter awareness periods, like Trans Day of Remembrance or Pride month, and it's all kinds of messed up.
