Mom, Dem, Californian, former teacher, trying to remain an optimist

At the beginning of this cycle people thought the GOP would gain Senate seats. This was a terrible map for Democrats. But because of the hard work of the DSCC and Chuck Schumer, Dems are going to now have a 55 or 56 majority.

Apple reportedly has cut AI token budgets from $300/day to $200/day with some teams falling to $100/day as part of cost cutting. Given Apple has tens of thousands of engineers on staff, this is a bill that could easily be in the hundreds of millions. Likely unbudgeted at the start of the year.

what i can't get over, looking at louisiana and mississippi and even alabama, is that the votes are *there*. it is absolutely possible with long term investment to make them competitive states

Otherwise, it really sounds like you're just sour-grapesing a triumphant day for democratic values and better representation in Congress and trying to concern-troll your way into kneecapping someone for being Muslim.

He's a US Senator; he's definitionally *everyone's* guy and if you were a serious person you'd be wanting him to get his job done instead of clearly hoping he won't months before he's even sworn in. If you have any evidence connecting him or his staff to this harassment go ahead and post it.

After Trump's Monty Pythonesque reflecting pool and ballroom pressers this week I think we need to be paying far more attention to his finding from the Exit Polls - a clear majority of Americans thinks he is no longer capable of doing the job. They would be right.

For a long time, the implicit agreement was universities provided education that companies valued and didn't have to pay for, so training new employees & keeping them employed made sense. Now, companies want universities to provide the training but they don't to give universities any money to do it.

My ice cold take is that many but not all complaints about universities are complaints about broader political economy and managerial factors that universities cannot address. Why do students want skills? Employers don’t do lifetime employment so they don’t do on the job training.

I was thinking about the *millions of people* around the country disenfranchised by gerrymandering for SO many years suddenly making the connection that they CAN have an impact. The Christian nationalists didn't just lose major races - they lost SO MANY local races and initiatives were struck down.

I’m so proud and dare I say surprised at my little state of NH. We’re considered a purple but our state government has been going down a dark path for about a decade. Freestaters have been infiltrating state and local governments and turning us into “The AL of the north”. That all changed Tuesday 💙

Georgia doesn’t happen without Stacey Abrams. Texas doesn’t happen without Beto O’Rourke and Colin Allred. Wisconsin doesn’t happen without Ben Wikler. North Carolina doesn’t happen without Anderson Clayton. Yesterday’s success was built on years of hard work both running and behind the scenes.

The most difficult obstacle I’ve dealt with in 25 or so yrs of trying to convince people to vote in Texas is that our votes never counted anyways. I always knew it would just take one & now that obstacle is gone.

#NativeTexan here, I've lived through the flip from (conservative) Democratic to Republican and now back to Democratic and I'm still trying to peel myself off the ceiling. Big props to Dem State Party Chair Kendall Scudder who took over in 2025 from Gilberto Hinojosa (Gina's dad) in 2025.
