Hard to describe the vibes in Austin right now. Just walked past a mariachi band playing outside the Governors mansion. Whole city feels joyous, like it’s collectively allowing itself to finally believe the reality of Tuesday.

Ezra is pointing out that the GOP has been shoveling policy through SCOTUS and the reconciliation process. Our only way out is to end the filibuster. This is the next battle, and it's happening now in conjunction with the Majority Leader fight.
Ezra and Leah artfully shutting down naysayers saying SCOTUS will stop it. TRY IT ANYWAY. Amen. And it is one of many arrows in the current quiver. SET YOUR SIGHTS HIGH.
Schumer is apparently calling favorable media figures and demanding that they write favorable stories about why he should be Majority Leader. Know that when you see them, those stories are planted.
Van Hollen is currently saying that Dems will claw back money set aside for ICE, and use it to replace funds stolen from Medicaid and SNAP. Y'all. We're there.
El-Sayed: "The first 3 things we have to do is end this war -- we need a war powers resolution that brings war-making capacity back to Congress -- number 2, ending this tariff regime & war against Canada, but number 3, stopping the nuclear bomb that's about to go off in our healthcare system ... "
Marco Rubio oversaw the “deals” and payoffs and pressure to get tens of thousands of people expelled to countries they’ve never been to, including thousands of Cubans living in Miami. He is at least as responsible as Stephen Miller — maybe moreso — for the ongoing third-country removal disaster.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly preparing to resign from Donald Trump’s cabinet to launch a bid for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination. www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/new...
2024-2026 will be remembered as one of the stupidest national hysterias of all time a supposedly generational "vibe shift" completely disintegrated upon contact with Actual Republican Governance
House Democrats are in the fight to bring government back from the brink of authoritarianism. We will shine a light on President Trump's quid pro quo, coin-operated, pay-to-play corruption and renew American government as an instrument for the common good.
My top line takeaway from the election is up: NOBODY HAS TO BE LEFT BEHIND. It turns out we DON’T have to sacrifice trans kids to win. We DON’T have to deport our neighbors. We DON’T have to support abusers with Nazi tattoos. We can just *have principles* and win. My latest in @thenation.com
Actually, Democrats Don’t Have to Sacrifice Trans People or Immigrants to Win
For two years, leading Democratic factions have insisted the party must abandon key populations to win. Tuesday proved them wrong.

blue tsunami, maga influencers crying, pete hegseth getting fired, and now russell brand going to prison. if It happens soon, i honestly think im going to lose my mind
what i can't get over, looking at louisiana and mississippi and even alabama, is that the votes are *there*. it is absolutely possible with long term investment to make them competitive states
wrecking trump’s cabinet is important for the president but destroying elon musk is critical for the future, and while people will piss and moan that democrats won’t try, i would not bet on that.
like, between DOGE investigations, his federal contracts, and texas state investigations, musk is FUCKED fucked. it won’t happen fast because he has infinite dollars for lawyers, but it’s coming. he had even more to lose last night than trump, he spent like he did, and he lost everything.
I never thought I'd write this story. After sweeping Democratic victories in Texas, the state's anti-trans restrictions appear set to fall. Texas' bans on gender marker changes, GAC for minors, trans bathroom use, and more are all on the chopping block. Today is a new dawn for trans Texans.
A New Dawn For Trans Texans: Most Texas Anti-Trans Laws Poised to Fall After Shock Democratic Victories
With Democrats flipping the governor’s mansion, AG office, four state Supreme Court seats, and the Court of Appeals, the days an anti-trans Texas have finally come to an end.

Not a single Democrat has won statewide in Texas in 32 years. Until last night.
One of the things I *love* about Bluesky is the utterly chaotic nature of my non algorithmic TL. I can read about: Medieval eel taxes, the latest Romancelandia knives out drama, an unhinged shitpost, a cool archaeology discovery, and a Nigella recipe. It's a cabinet of curiosity for the brain.
"Kinetic" is the word. At the city level, the state level, the federal level, every Dem should be doing, pushing, acting. Slough off the resistance, blow past the scolding, ignore the pundit harumphing. Thing didn't work? Whatever, you're doing the next thing. Move, move, move.
As a general note, I think one lesson Dems should have learned is that there's nothing to be gained in being slow & methodical. The way to succeed in this media environment is to do *everything at once, all the time*. Always be acting, setting the agenda, dictating the news cycle. Move, move, move.
Elsewhere, David Ellison spent like $50 billion of his dad's money to turn WB-Paramount into the world's biggest lean-R media conglomerate and now the whole country lurched D *and* his dad's money is all tied up in AI companies and data centers that are under threat from angry voters and Dem AGs.
I see @raskin.house.gov is on MSNOW laying out an aggressive agenda for investigations they're going to have now that they're in control of House Judiciary. The leadership might want to focus attention on other issues, but the chairs of the committees in charge of this all seem on board.
I understand the impulse and Jeffries didn't help with his comments on Morning Joe's Centrist Zoo Crew today, but if you look at the committees and committee chairs that matter when it comes to oversight, they seem ready to roll. Still, doesn't hurt to call your reps and push them there.
I keep thinking about new things Nick Fuentes tweeting "your body, my choice", MAGA chuds laughing about our fear and grief, the January 6th rioters' gleeful faces just this bulletproof sense of invincibility. "we can do whatever we want and you can't stop us" they should never know peace
and to flip this around, the Dem bench is now massive Zohran went from unknown state assembly member in 2021 to america’s favorite mayor in 2025 someone elected last night who you’ve never heard of in some seat you’ve never paid attention to is a future superstar
Republicans on track to lose about 600 state legislature seats and that is, as Ronald Meatball DeSantis said earlier, a potentially extinction level event for state parties across the country. There is no bench, or a very emaciated one at best, now in states like AZ, NV, GA, NC, TX
man, the funniest thing about "now is not the time for revenge" is that revenge is probably the lowest common denominator in the big tent. like it'll be real work to get the libs and socialists to agree on affordability policies. everyone's cool with revenge, though
Thinking tonight about all the Cabinet secretaries and White House officials who spent the last two years being absolute pricks to the congressional Democrats who now have total oversight power over them.

They were right about Bluesky being a bubble: It’s a high-information bubble. I’m shocked how much more I know about what’s happening than people who still rely on other social media platforms for news. Not having an algorithm between you and direct information is crucial for an objective reality.
They’re saying being on Bluesky gives you an information advantage, which I can confirm since Bluesky is one of the only platforms where I get information anymore
