Perfectly said. No, I cannot do another daily task. Unless I want to skip one of my two meals. And no, I cannot go to any more appointments or physical therapy or anything. I need to rest more. I can't remember the last time I had *any* energy at all. I have to move and I have no idea how.

One of the things a patient with complex chronic disease dreads to hear from any doc is, “Add this new thing to your routine. It will only take 5 minutes each day.” The “only” is doing *such* heavy lifting. When you add in all the other bits and pieces, tracking medications, handling the 1/3

Its embarrassing how many grown ass adults live in these fantasies where people work for some nonsense like the artificial cultures oligarchs manufacture over survival.

Dumbass CEO of Anthropic thinks people should work for the "corporate mission" over survival.

Inflammatory disorders can be brutal. I’d know personally (thanks vasculitis et al). But the misinformation, including on vaccines, is dangerous. A deep dive from me into how MAHA sped up the inflammation panic. New from me at @motherjones.com www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

The Great Inflammation panic

The wellness world's favorite buzzword has gone federal. For those of us with real inflammatory disorders, the misinformation isn't just annoying—it's harmful.

Everyday eugenics is grinding me down to my bones. Any time I read the news its just headline after headline of "well vulnerable people will just die *shrug*" whether its war, famine, diseases, environmental disaster, or whatever other horrific stuff is happening daily. I am so so weary.

I truly dont know how we can look around and pretend the same groups of people identified as likely to die or become disabled by Sars-Cov-2 no longer need protection. Sorry are you telling me there are no more pregnant people, disabled people, or elderly people in the world?

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com · 6d ago

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

"As Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei Asia found in a recent investigation, just five US tech giants — Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle — are hiding an estimated $1.65 trillion in debt that doesn’t appear on balance sheets. futurism.com/artificial-i...

AI Companies Are Trying to Hide a Staggering Amount of Debt

AI companies are pouring tens of billions of dollars into enormous data centers. They're being built on top of a mountain of hidden debt.

Got an email today for an academic org bemoaning how much conference hotels charge for a mic, speakers, and projector. You have got to be kidding me. Just cut the hotel conference contract. Host your JULY conference at a uni thats fully prepped. Go virtual. Buy $20 mics 1/6

Same applies to epi pens. I pay $400 for a generic pair every other year. Even though there are some brands like Auvi-Q that ARE innovating and making the application easier (and harder to make mistakes), insurance companies fuck w the formulary to make sure you pay more for a worse product.

AOC: This is an inhaler pump. Can you guess what the great innovation was that made it worth preventing this from going generic? It’s this little plastic piece right here. That was a major part of the new patent they filed to extend exclusivity and prevent this life-saving drug from going generic.

Historical research does not need to be done faster or in greater volume for any social or intellectual purpose whatever; if anything, it needs to be done more slowly and deliberately than at present, by people allowed the training, time, space, and resources to do it that way.

Erin Grievances@erinbartram.bsky.social · 3mo ago

"This will transform historical research!" Cool but it's already being transformed out of existence by the same forces pushing these transformative technologies. Forgive us if we're skeptical of a moment that's telling us "This will help you do your work--which we despise--faster and better."
