One pleasant outcome of the videofication of the internet is that there a more regular non-influencer type folks on the internet and I appreciate the range of personalities.

New: We found 50 cops who misused Flock cameras and other license-plate readers for personal purposes, often to spy on their girlfriends or ex-wives. He "watched every single move I made. ... Who do you turn the chief of police in to?" wapo.st/3S6rTuo

She left her ex. He secretly tracked her through a network of policing cameras.

Flock’s array of license-plate cameras was built to fight crime. But at least 50 law enforcement officers were charged with or accused of misusing it and other systems.

Watched The Odyssey; really enjoyed it! Fun grandiose cinema. It felt a bit too fast; this movie could have easily been an hour longer. And with that hour, I need to have seen more Athena. Zendaya was great but the character was more like and old wise best friend than the goddess of wisdom and war

"I write to urge you to impose a AI-moratorium in NYC's schools. At stake are not only the cognitive + emotional health of NYC's children but also— • Labor + economic conditions for educators • Climate + struggles for energy justice • Widening of the political + economic power-gap b/t rich + poor."

I have not had any luck in tracking down the artist I bought this paper house from at the Other Islands Book Fair on April 25. If anyone knows an artist who makes these kinds of paper houses, please reach out to niapoetry@gmail.com. I believe I paid $8 for this one.

A small paper house with glowing yellow windows sits on a surface. The house has a patterned design with gold accents on the walls and roof. The house has a tea light inside.A small paper house with pink windows and a decorative brown patterned exterior rests on a light-colored surface.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Morning walk. There aren’t many flowers left in South Mpls after the flash drought and hot days of the last three weeks. Almost every plant is drooping and heat stressed. Our little bee balm field shed its bloom, the lilies all died. It was so sudden too after months of daily rain.

Close-up of a velvety, perfect purple day lily with bright sun-yellow insides. Green foliage in the background. Clearly being looked after

99% of the time, when someone accuses you of selective outrage, it’s a way of politically demobilizing you and shutting you up “Why are you angry about data centers instead of fast fashion” isn’t about making you care about fast fashion. It’s about shutting you up about data centers And visa versa

I’m embarrassed to admit this given since if the circles I run in but one big change of opinion I’ve had over the last few years is from “zines are silly childish self centered endeavors” to “zines are tender artifacts of art, history, and theory of people going against the grain of trash”
