A Dog and a Plane begins the weekend run of "final episodes for shows I'm not ready to say goodbye to." Delightful romcom from beginning to end. Strong thematic lines around self-worth in relationships. Jojo's unabashedly thirsty camera taking Tay's hotness to new heights. What a good time.

You know how the big, highly-anticipated scenes can be the hardest to write? After weeks/months of feeling unready to tackle it, I finally drafted the first scene with Vi, Tempe, and Kilo all in the same room, and I think it went great! (For me, not so much for them. They've got a lot to work out.)

I have always arranged by genre/subject, and then alphabetical by author within genres (except "classics" which are chronological). My wife arranges by size of book. Combining our bookshelves was a challenge in logistics and negotiation.

Time for a Payback rewatch thread because this show is eating my brain. I already did ep 1 earlier today but here are my main takeaways: 1) the themes of debt and retribution are clear and complicated. The story is not divided into good people and bad - not even into victims and perpetrators.

Is there a common term for the spectrum of non-binaryness that's "null gender" on one end and "all the genders" on the other? I feel like surely there should be but I'm blanking on it

I remember a thread a while ago where the OP was discussing books that implied deeper/more intense eroticism in dialogue than is ever shown in actual scenes, and I’d love to find it again, because I keep seeing the same scenario everywhere.

I'm finally getting near the end of Nanyang Mysteries and I can't even say whether it's "good" or "coherent" - I'm so high on the sweet sweet lovers-to-enemies anguish I can't tell which way is up

instead of forming a coherent and principled political ideology a lot of people prefer to fall in love with some guy

I've noticed that younger people seem to over-analyze things that bring them pleasure & happiness. There are all kinds of caveats [almost like 'I know I'm really not SUPPOSED to enjoy x y z but...]. I did not grow up with this mindset. I wonder if this is tied to social media & constant surveillance
