Imaging activity in many defined cell types is now easi(er) using conventional 2p and confocal microscopes. 3000-5000 imaged neurons per recording, 78% matched to post hoc 3D EASI-FISH. We wanted this to be useful, affordable, and reliable. Jonna and an incredible team made it happen. Check it out!

We're excited to present EASI-PASS! We can record the activity of many neurons, and separately, the expression of many genes. A natural next step for the field is to link these two types of information. 🧵👇 1/n

Stuart Firestein's new book, It Could Be Otherwise, is out. It completes the trilogy that began with Ignorance and Failure. I read an early version and it is terrific. Firestein shows how science actually works, and he makes the case that uncertainty is a feature, not a bug.

I am proud of this paper. Since it came out in 2022 it has received 0 citations (yes that's a zero). But multiple young scientists have found it useful! (from other labs, so they were not coerced...). Perhaps you will find it useful too? SOME TIPS FOR WRITING SCIENCE doi.org/10.1523/ENEU...

Excellent reporting on astrocyte-engram work from @junnagai.bsky.social, @m-r-williamson.bsky.social and others. This article captures just how much of a frontier research area astrocyte engrams represent, and I’m excited to see how the field unfolds. www.thetransmitter.org/memory/are-p...

Are parts of the memory trace found in the ‘astroengram?’

Neurons have long taken top billing in memory, but researchers are making the case for astrocytes.
