This is such a bad faith framing of this bit of news. Just about every big franchise with an ongoing story has an official loremaster or lorekeeper. WoW does, for example. Disney are only so invested in KH's story; they just want to be sure it doesn't hurt their brand.

This is such a bad faith and fallacious argument from Sony. It's perfectly intuitive to think that you are buying a (digital) copy of the binary data and that that copy should work for as long as you have the compatible hardware. I can now send and receive emails using #PlayOnline! Some might not remember that #ffxi runs using PlayOnline which at one point had an actual Email client in it. I set up a local proxy server however and now I can use PlayOnline as an email client. The PlayOnline app was ahead of its time.
