There's always church firsts, but it looks like I'll be doing a conditional baptism coming up. Amazing!

woe to you who make long pdf documents, but do not include navigable bookmarks, for you shall be stuck in a traffic jam with no end
So embarrassing when people think the point of reading a novel is to know the plot, so a summary is just as good. The plot isn’t important, you rube. You absolute simpleton. The point of reading a novel is to find out what the characters are eating and start thinking about what you want for dinner.
For @slate.com, I reported on the nostalgia surrounding Pizza Hut's Book It! program 🍕 People shared fond memories of falling in love with reading, what it meant to them as kids in terms of food access, and the glory days of books + personal pan pizzas. Gift link:
It Might Be the Best Thing a Corporation Has Ever Done. It’s Finally Back.
Reading may reportedly be in crisis, but the personal pan pizza is forever.

Actual ash on the truck this morning as I take our daughter into school. I thought the 2020 fire season was the worst id see - but the closeness of this one is absolutely astounding.
The fact that a pod about a book of the Bible where moving is a plot point dropping right now as we get ready to move is a troll on me, personally… is a phrase that Jonah would also likely say
🎶 MY NAME IS JONAH / I'M CHILLING IN THE WHALE - One of the Bible's best books! - An intentionally wacky story! - With deep political meaning! - And pirates who don't do anything!
In other venues the algo has firmly realized I’m getting ready to move (consents pending etc) and now is burying me in van lines ads, and the result is mild trauma and mounting panic
My youngest, randomly, "Wait, does unleaded gas mean that there used to be...leaded gas?" Me: "Yup! When I first started driving, they still had leaded gas." Youngest, "How was that even a thing? Are you ok??" Me: "Oh boy, do I have some interesting hypotheses to tell you"
A friend’s spouse works for Kerrygold, and my friend just sent me a short video of their refrigerator. Friends: however much butter and cheese you imagine are in the home fridge of a Kerrygold employee—it is more than that.
“People. Take a breath. You were yelling for help; I came. What do you need right now?” “SAVE US FROM GHOST JESUS, DEAR GOD!” “Ok, how about I just leave and come back? I’ll just leave and come back.”
Tomorrow’s gospel is funnier than we credit. The disciples are alone in the boat, in a panic, and Jesus saunters up. “Hey, what’s up, need help?” “AHHHH. GHOST JESUS!”
"midwestern corn is way better than corn anywhere else" sure buddy if that idea gets you through february in minnesota i won't try to take it away from you

Great system we have here, shame if something would happen to it
SECURE MESSAGE from massive dystopian health care agency: "We are reducing all therapy sessions from 60 minutes to 45 minutes." Me, clicking reply: "I am assuming you will now be charging me 25% less for the session." REPLY(24 hours later): "Your reply has been forwarded to relevant department."
Posting. To get my ideas out to the world, I’d have to take out a classified ad in the New York Review of Books. Now I can just type into my phone and the entire world can see my most cursed, curdled thoughts.
So this is basically one of the entry points to becoming a reactionary
i know votes are still being counted but the more i look at this michigan senate map the more it becomes clear that it kind of looks like a mitten
somebody seems to be trying real hard to get Gurt’s attention
Needed to get paxlovid. Copay was going to be $400. Went and got the coupon from the manufacturer that works because I have insurance. Now it’s free. Great system we got here, shame if something were to happen to it.
