I can’t stop thinking about this story of a 40 year old Christian Fellowship for law enforcement getting caught making one spectacularly bad hire and immediately disbanding the organization. Feels like they really don’t want anyone digging into their hiring practices or history

My wife is good about letting our neighbors take clippings from the garden and has built up quite a little fan club. Today a neighbor dropped off some eggs from their chickens and (I think?) quails. I ask in all seriousness: what should I do with the quail eggs?
A couple of months ago when we were stuck in the house I put on Fried Green Tomatoes and was surprised to hear that my wife had never seen it. Turns out she hasn’t seen many movies from 80’s and 90’s so we’ve been watching the heavy hitters that I thought she’d really like to have seen.
I bought a ticket at The Nightlight for this so fast when I found out about it...it looks amazing! My kind of sci-fi action movie, right there!

A good buddy cop story has lots of action, quippy dialogue and a massive conspiracy run by a mustache twirling evil genius. @scalzi.com delivers on all of it and it’s highly entertaining. Written six years before COVID, his commentary on post pandemic life and tech oligarchy is shockingly on point

Also everyone is trying to move on and pretend it never happened. It came out in 2014 so it ruins the “Novel of the near future” tagline for everyone else

While it’s great that this happened quickly the whole “we’re sorry for the damage we caused to law enforcement agencies and the taxpayers” bit really makes me wonder where CLEF gets its money from

'To preserve its independence, the Fed should play politics' is a terrible strategy. Also, when has appeasement Trump ever worked? The best thing for the Fed is to pursue good monetary policy.
I hear this same kind of attitude from men my age when they see this newish trend of providing fathers with an equal amount paternity leave as mothers. “I didn’t get it so why should they?” is an unfortunately common take
