Learning and exchanging - great students and instructors!
Tajbakhsh Lab
@tajbakhshlab.bsky.social
The Tajbakhsh laboratory works on skeletal muscle development, homeostasis, regeneration and ageing, with particular focus on muscle stem cells.
2nd week of #ASCB! Evolution of regeneration, Eve Gazave, hands-on Platynereis regeneration wonderfully demonstrated, with help from Zoé Velasquillo, Rémi Strehl. Francina Langa Vives and expert CIGM team had everyone try pronuclear injections + ES into blastocysts - steady hands of creation.
End of the first and full week #ASCB. Pondering, and exchanges on a research career, then ST's lecture @tajbakhshlab.bsky.social , isolation of muscle stem (satellite) cells + myofibre niche. Plate & wait. Quiescence to differentiation. Barbara Gayraud-Morel, with help from Liza Sarde - thanks!
Our Stem Cell Course #ASCB is back! After 2nd day, @institutpasteur.bsky.social @tajbakhshlab.bsky.social, @zenlabpasteur.bsky.social, Barbara Gayraud-Morel, and great interactive students. Laurence Daheron, Frank Yates, Michel Cohen-Tannoudji covered pluripotency and generating hiPSCs. Great team!
Students are always appreciative of the course, the amount of academic knowledge and practical lab experiences gained across multiple organisms, and the difference strategies used to build a living entity. Please advertise. Thank you!
This course combines lectures and practical sessions that incorporate leading edge technologies to address questions in stem cell biology in the context of organogenesis and regeneration in different organisms. @tajbakhshlab.bsky.social @devstempasteur.bsky.social @stemdevevo.bsky.social

Bravo Liza, Brendan and colleagues for the elegant work on multiple live imaging strategies to untangle mechanisms of muscular dystrophy! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Impaired stem cell migration and divisions in Duchenne muscular dystrophy revealed by live imaging - Nature Communications
Using live-imaging in vivo and ex vivo, Sarde et al. show that dystrophic muscle stem cells have precocious differentiation through symmetric divisions and impaired migration, with differential impact...

Bravo!
A thousand bravos for Núria Ros-Rocher, who just secured a permanent @cnrs.fr researcher position in our lab. These positions are (too) rare but give much-needed job security to young scientists and allow long-term projects. Núria will dive deep into the natural history of C. flexa 🧪🌊 #ProudPI
Rémi Mounier, Bénédicte Chazaud @benchazaud.bsky.social @inserm.fr at Université Claude Bernard Lyon and co-workers show that immune #aging impairs #muscle #regeneration via #macrophage-derived anti-oxidant selenoprotein P. -> www.embopress.org/doi/full/10....
Relaxing on the rooftop, an evening picnic with students and instructors
Taking us through axial elongation is David Turner @gastruloids.bsky.social, a great teacher of ES cell handling and formulating protocols for reproducible gastruloid generation. A-P extension, and into the 2nd week.
Superb dual lectures by @amartinezarias.bsky.social on mouse, human, multispecies, embryology, gastruloids; from bench to birth - discussions on the dynamic nature of the field. Importance of history, context, and remaining lucid while discovering. Much to reflect upon, as we explore.
Isolation of muscle fibres and their stem (satellite) cells. Plate and wait, from quiescence to differentiation - following Shahragim’s lecture on muscle stem cell emergence and diversity. @tajbakhshlab.bsky.social, @brendan-evano.bsky.social, Barbara Gayraud-Morel. Patience is a virtue.
Laura Cantini & Stephan Fisher lectures guided us through the trials and tribulations of omics - the power and drawbacks of data integration, and how to navigate the minefield. Thanks!
1st week ends with: a swim in the zebrafish brain - cool genetic tracing of neural stem cells with @zenlabpasteur.bsky.social, Laure Bally-Cuif, Sara Ortica, Tanya Foley, Isabelle Foucher—lots covered in a condensed period.
