Does the baseball cap keeping the sun out of my eyes annoy you? Do my sunglasses offend you? Does the umbrella keeping me dry make you think I need a psychiatrist? You might be the one who has mental health issues like anxiety, PTSD and denial if the sight of my N95 mask makes you angry.

Mild backsliding. Today he has again decided he to abstain from kibble, but he is eager for treats. And while he was not exactly reluctant to walk, he was not enthusiastic. Perhaps this is a new phase of life. Shorter walks and the dog equivalent of Doritos.

The United States and Soviet Union divided the Korean peninsula into occupation zones after Japan’s surrender. NK’s very existence as a separate state cannot be understood independently of American intervention. From an anti-imperialist perspective, and from a human one, that is fucking tragic.

you can replace korea with any other country on the face of the earth and you'll start sounding like a nazi republican but everyone is convinced this is the one country the state dept isn't lying about

"hospitals will close, in both urban and rural areas...Poor people and the undocumented will either go to the ER and not be able to pay, or will defer any treatment, including drugs they need, and that will mean more emergencies, more deaths, more burden on the system."

The Republicans Are Going to Kill People—but Not Until After They Vote

In the Big Beautiful Bill, the GOP put off Medicaid cuts until after midterms. America is about to find out why.

The shock gloves ICE has purchased are already in use in schools in Nebraska. The manufacture says they're for "pain compliance for law enforcement, adult and juvenile corrections, hospital security, EMS and the military.” They're going to use these in hospitals. On sick people. Resist.

Updated: Electric shock gloves already in use by police departments in Bellevue, Omaha

Electric shock gloves are making headlines after Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced it was planning to outfit its agents with the technology. They've already been used in Nebraska for years...

I hate that we have to do this, but I'm glad we get to, if that makes sense. I'm weary of a world where we underpay and underfund teachers, our secular saints; but I'm glad we have the tech to be able to reach across the void and help them when we can

Something @jamellebouie.net doesn't address in this video is what happens when doctors won't accept Medicaid. States that don't fix this (looking at you, California) are giving a big "fuck you" to their low-income residents and they're telling us to not expect programs to actually work.

Unfortunately @jamellebouie.net isn't posting here these days, but a few weeks ago he proposed a way to get every American healthcare without up-ending the system and creating a lot of opposition: expand eligibility for both Medicaid and Medicare until everyone is covered. youtu.be/nWYLod656Dc?...

California's Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, WAS comparable to access to private plans several years ago, but reimbursement rates are so low that the number of doctors accepting it has plummeted to almost zero in some areas. I don't hear Becerra or any Dem state legislators talking about it.
