What better book to have in a Best of British Storybundle than a Best of British SF anthology. This one is edited by our good friend Donna Scott and includes stories by Gareth L Powell, Lavie Tidhar, Stark Holborn, Fiona Moore, EM Faulds and many others: storybundle.com/bestof
Yeah, Kat Tenbarge was much nicer to Jack Osbourne than I would have been, I would have just told him to go fuck himself. Also, if you're going to accuse a writer or journalist of using "AI" on the basis of em dashes, absolutely positively go fuck yourself.
So I woke up this morning to find out that Ozzy Osbourne’s son made a video falsely accusing me of using AI to write a Rolling Stone article about the Tate brothers.
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

Had a lovely time down Rhossili today. Feel very lucky to live so close to somewhere so beautiful 🦢🌊🏴Getting down by the sea always helps me slow down, relax, and enjoy life in the moment.
i think people advising that authors are going to be ok because they can explain their creative choices better than a slopper are coming from a good place (and prob mostly right!). but boy do i hate the presumption that writers have to rationally talk through the minutiae of their creative choices.

Almost everything that is wrong with the world right now is summed up in this. It's destruction of humanity for a pointless, impossible-to-satiate machine.

I got salty about AI bullshit because it's all such bullshit, so here is me being very mad and probably not very clear about how mad it makes me. Do with this as you will. *kicks rocks*
You Cannot Use One Bullshit Machine To Catch Another Bullshit Machine
I really fucking hate AI right now. I really fucking hated AI yesterday and the day before, too, though I think the hate is growing faster and hotter, like a sun about to explode and consume the ga…

THREAD. How A Publisher Almost Killed The Book I Waited My Whole Life To Write. My novel Villager came out in 2022. It was published by Unbound, who had little marketing/sales power. But I was excited & proud, since I worked so f-ing hard on it. Here's an extract: www.tom-cox.com/the-village-...

Even in a time when 40% fewer people read for pleasure than a decade ago, I have faith in books. Because I have faith in people to find ways to rebel and look harder for an alternative when they're being suffocated, to this dire extent, by a technological regime that no longer wants us to think.

RIP Bonnie Tyler. And RIP Tandi Iman Dupree. This remains the best stage entrance by a drag queen of all time, even some 25 years later, and the best use of Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” ever. youtu.be/IHQA5vqn6rw?...
Got up early today and had a lovely morning with the family down Llangennith. Clear blue sky and clearer water. And barely 20 people on the whole beach when we arrived. What’s better than a dip in the sea before the afternoon‘s heat kicks in 😎☀️🏴

If you're tempted by one of these, take a quick look at them. To cool the air, you have to remove the heat and put it somewhere else (outside!). If there's no means of that happening, nowhere for the heat to be exhausted out, it's not an air conditioner. It's a fan.
