If you think some politicians have contempt for adults who want to stand in pubs, wait til you hear about their policies towards children who want to walk and cycle on our streets.

This is the conversation we’re not having, even in terms of normal streets and neighbourhoods. If we are to properly tackle climate change, our existing built environment will change appearance. The NIMBYs cannot be allowed to frustrate the transition.

A machine for living in may soon become a machine for dying in. "At what point do we respect architecture and history over people’s living conditions?"

37% of new heavy trucks sold in China: now fully electric. Not delivery vans — 49-tonne heavy-duty rigs. This one swapped ~550 kWh in just 5 mins. Competitive, proven & inevitable. China's heavy EV truck sales surged 182% YoY in 2025, rising from single digits just two years ago.

It is important for people to understand the facts of climate change so that they can understand the choices of local politicians & other decision-makers. That’s why we’re supporting the #Gosforth showing of @nebriefing.bsky.social (July 23). Would be great if anyone from your party can attend.

I increasingly think the chance of widespread rioting this summer is underpriced: - Spiralling youth unemployment - A sense of politics not working - Two far right parties getting unjustified levels of coverage - El Ninõ potentially causing a long hot summer - Cost of living about to explode (again)

The Far Right riot in Belfast last night was nothing less than “a race-based pogrom”, Belfast MP and leader of the SDLP Claire Hanna said. The mob hunted down non-whites and set fire to their homes. Carl Whyte, a local councillor, called it “a hard Far Right element”.

Net migration could fall to zero and Reform and the Telegraph and all that lot would still bang on about it and the BBC would still cover them banging on about it and the government would still bow to “legitimate concerns” because it’s not numbers, it’s the industry of racism

It is quite strange to listen to political coverage currently, even from mainstream sources, and remember that net migration has quartered since its peak, and is likely to fall to Cameron's tens of thousands target next year and this has made no difference to the discourse.
