In June, DoJ announced they were withdrawing from Olmstead enforcement. Earlier this month, they took one of their first actions in Florida, withdrawing from an ongoing case to protect medically fragile children. My latest.

My whole life, the GOP has been testing the limits of this principle, pushing & pushing, getting shittier & shittier, and nothing breaks the "both sides" model. Nothing. Now we have literal brute fascism being both-sided with ... campaigning with a controversial streamer. Or using pronouns.

Because the behavior of the parties is not symmetrical. If we genuinely brought back shaming of shitty, cruel, deceptive behavior, the shame would overwhelmingly fall on the right, and the whole elite political & media system has shown again & again that it values symmetry over decency.

Oz is claiming that the two measles deaths in Pennsylvania might have “had another condition that was already attacking them and they happened to get measles at the same time”. This implies that 1. It’s okay if kids with comorbidities die of measles. 2. That they would have died anyway so nbd.

A massive flash flood in the Himalayan border areas of Nepal and ‌China's Tibet. Initial report say it may have been caused by a glacial lake rupture.

I have quantified measles deaths globally on behalf of the WHO since 2012. We attribute any death within 4 weeks of a measles case to measles. Measles is immunosuppressive and the proximate cause is often a secondary infection that would otherwise not have led to death.
