You've got CURRENT sitting elected officials constantly decrying the fact that politics are "corrupt" - not them of course but just amorphous "politics." That's the frame that almost everyone in the country has absorbed and it is helping the fascists to enrich themselves x 1000.

I don't think this will work because USians believe that all politicians are corrupt. This is particularly true for those who actually pay the least attention to electoral politics.
