In the midst of yet another wave of genAI art backlash with the Studio Ghibli stuff, I thought I'd share legendary Nintendo artist Takaya Imamura's take on it, from my recent interview with him:
It's peak, obviously, but I don't like the new voice lines. They lack that "crushed" sound that worked for radio comms, and I don't see why some of the lines have been changed for worse versions. "We've got places to be" etc. And don't get me started on ROB's voice.

Some of my earliest memories are of Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. I really can't express how excited I am to see how they've reimagined it

Only 5 or so hours in, but 007 First Light is absolutely amazing. It feels like Nightfire's campaign felt to me when I was a kid, which is extremely high praise
really funny how there's a "golden hour" inside of video games now that you have to wait for if you want the best footage
