Kind of think there’s an argument against Mill here. That Columbus has some sincere modern defenders shows that at least some people can be durably corrupted. Letting people defend obvious, grave evil comes with the cost that some people who would not have been corrupted have been.

My support for bluesky/atproto is pretty much explicitly a "political" project. It is bad for a small number of (mostly right-wing) people to literally own all the sources of media. Open-source algorithms + the ability to move your account without negative network effects opposes this.
