I believe Stancil (who I have no beef with) can be explained in evolutionary terms. Social media promotes argument - we agree that’s just an inherent feature of it. So it’s natural social media would produce a person who argues with anyone over anything at any time for any reason. Pure argument.

Some people have suggested I haven’t done the background reading, but it’s not a deep idea. It’s from a passage that’s four sentences long.

the thing is that Wilson seems to not be particularly well-versed in film criticism, which when criticizing a film of the Odyssey is more important than knowledge of the Odyssey.

History rhymes. This echoes post Seven Years War, where GB tried to remake alliances in Europe but failed, partially though attitude and partially because what had happened in previous alliances. There was even a period, 1762 to 1770 inclusive with 5 PMs (ie start & end dates between those years).

two separate people i know talked to klobuchar staffers about gaza and got "i don't know" type responses about why the fuck she was moving how she was. people are fed up. and it's obviously not just gaza but i do think the sheer horror of it REALLY highlights how fucked up that dynamic is.
people have hated congress & found it corrupt for a long time but the genocide in gaza is actually really bad and the portion of the electorate that reads the news is, right now, sending a pretty unambiguous message about how they feel about democracy being subverted to ensure it continues
