90 years ago today, anti-fascists and anti-racists defeated Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts in what became known as the Battle of Cable Street. Fascism is not inevitable. We can - and must - defeat it. They shall not pass! "¡No pasarán!" ✊

We have consistently found that antisocial behaviour primarily comes from a lack of healthier outlets. Our young people are growing up in a society that has cut back on providing for them, that has isolated them from their communities, and then questions why they might act out.

With bills constantly on the rise it's time to demand better. Greens have already secured a £2 bus fare cap for the Highlands and Islands, and in Strathclyde. We need the £2 bus fare cap to be rolled out across the rest of Scotland now!

How Scotland is run & how power is dispersed matters. The SNP Scottish Govt proposals for reducing local government to potentially six strategic authorities would be the biggest centralisation of power seen in public life. This matters more than today's Scot Parl debate on indy.

We can't keep repeating the same failed approach. We need a major expansion of harm reduction and treatment services, including safe consumption facilities. We must ensure that people can access support quickly, safely, and without stigma, fear or criminalisation.

BBC News. Drug deaths rise sharply in Scotland as figures remain worst in Europe.

Current proposals for hyper-scale data centres in Scotland would use over 1.5 times our total peak power use. That's bad news for communities, bad news for our environment, and bad news for our energy bills. 👇

Are you wondering what exactly a green councillor could and would do for you and your ward/area? A Scottish Green Councillor would put you and your neighbours first, fighting for fair and affordable rent and housing and Ensuring our parks and streets stay clean and safe.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The campaign for independence must show the progressive need for independence. We can do that by pushing devolution to it's limits and challenging the Westminster establishment by cutting household bills, improving lives, and building a fairer country for all.

I grew up in the shadow of apartheid, and I saw first-hand how systems of oppression can become part of everyday life. I’ve also seen the reality Palestinians face in the West Bank. International solidarity mattered then, and it matters now. 1/2

Dundee University staff and students are fighting back against cuts and compulsory redundancies, and I’ll be joining them on the picket line on Monday morning alongside Dundee UCU and uod students against cuts. Universities are about people, students and staff, not cuts to jobs and courses. 1/2

Earlier today, the First Minister hinted that he would block any hyper-scale AI data centre applications before proper guidance is published. This is a welcome step. We must ensure that this pause works and that the guidance puts people and planet before tech bro's profits.

This afternoon's debate on hyperscale AI datacentres shows that far too many MSPs seem ready to vote for a fudge, instead of giving real clarity to communities. The Greens will keep putting the Scottish Government under pressure to put the country ahead of the big tech industry's profits.

Today we're bringing a vote to deliver a moratorium on hyperscale data centres in Scotland. The Scottish Parliament will have a simple choice. MSPs can stand with the communities they represent, protect our environment and our resources. Or they can fail to act.

Vote today. Scottish Greens force vote on haling hyperscale data centres.

The Holyrood 6 plus two independents for the Midstocket and Rosemount by-election, including regular Aberdeen candidate Simon McLean who I am only realising in hindsight was perhaps surprisingly absent in George Street and Harbour - loves an Aberdeen by-election this lad.

Infographic with by-election details. Candidates are Green Lauren Bird, SNP Jeff Diack, Conservative Freddie John, Independent Simon McLean, Reform UK John McLeod, Independent Kusum Singal, Lib Dem Sandy Stephen, Labour Willie Young

Vacating is SNP, 2022 winner is SNP, runner-up Labour, margin of 1.9%. Cause is the death of Bill Cormie (SNP). By-election is on the 8th of October. Prediction is SNP - Labour tossup.

Midstocket and Rosemount was just 1.9% between the SNP and Labour after transfers in 2022; I don't see any other party being a viable winner. With both parties struggling, by-election dynamics might favour Labour, but that requires them to make the top 2. If not, SNP may yet win. So, a tossup.

Chart of first preferences in 2022. In percentage terms, SNP 37.8, Conservative 24.5, Labour 21.5, Green 9.3, Lib Dem 7.0
