Can't believe I'm saying this, but this may be a contender for the best trans nonfiction of 2026. Hands down the most accessible account of American trans history, with a shocking amount of nuance and depth behind its arguments. I consider myself very well read, and I learned a lot here.

Anyway today's read is the revised edition of Transgender History by @susanstryker.bsky.social. I've read 2ed at least five times, and I got through two chapters at the library earlier. Not much I haven't already said about this book. Pineco seems like a good fit, couldn't explain to you why.

accurately tagging your work if you are a trans woman who writes anything with a real bite to it will get most distributors to ban your work. Resisting fascism means resisting the urge to police your community members. It means resisting the transphobic AI algorithms. It means trusting your readers.

i don't believe this got enough attention: The Needle issued a retraction to an investigation from two weeks ago, following __EIGHT ERRORS__ that were uncaught before publication the single editor on the story was their "fiction and satire editor" (what the fuck? why?), who has stepped down god

There are, AFAIK, much fewer trade pub releases by transfem authors this year than in the previous. Judging by deal announcements this year, 2027 is going to be even worse than 2026, which is worse than 2025. All the more important to support selfpub transfem authors tbqh.

That is my strongest advice to every trans woman out there. DO NOT trust your doctors. They do not know us and our needs, they do not care to know us and our needs. Many are actively trying to harm us. Double-check EVERYTHING they say. Lay out your own plans, make your own decisions.

AI is going to destroy the world, but it’s because it’s going to embolden execs to fire the mysterious trans woman who is the only one that runs some extremely load bearing system written in assembly and replace her with vibe coding that ends up causing a vast unfixable economic crisis
