There's a point where you have to deal with the fact that the US isn't "divided," it's not "polarization;" it's that a significant amount of the populace are dangerously-negligent and malevolent enough that they should be completely disenfranchised from the representative political process.
I would like to very slowly explain to the (many) people in my life that if going to the hospital would fix me, I would just do that and get fixed however, the word 'chronic' in chronic illness is kind of a big clue
