I am so fucking tired of "seeking justice" being framed as "getting even." Arresting and/or impeaching people who are legitimately guilty of actual crimes is not revenge. It is justice. Innocent people should be released from detention and guilty people should be in prison. Again, that is JUSTICE.

Hopefully someone will and relaunch Salon soon, just like The Onion relaunch a few years ago. (BTW I’ve filled out that form on Disinfo dot com expressing interest in buying the domains and trademarks a number of times and never heard anything.)

It is truly not lost on me that so many of the pubs that are struggling or closing are also the ones willing to publish new or marginalized writers and cover fresh topics. Slowly but surely, we're being pushed out of this industry, and the record of our contributions is going, too.

Salon.com's team had an amazing election night. It is truly so fun, such an honor, to work with such smart, passionate, deeply funny people. This morning, we were informed the publication was closed, effective immediately. Here's the official company message. www.salon.com/2026/11/05/g...

🧵: I think gerrymandering cost Texas Dems roughly 10 House seats despite the GOP losing 6 intended seats and nearly several more. Texas’ geography would be awful for them without gerrymandering. Suburban Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston would have been a bloodbath like in the statewide races

THIS. Gerrymandering blocked Dems from gaining unified control over state government in GA, NC, TX, and maybe OH. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans live in those states. Many House races remain uncalled, but my very prelimiary estimate is gerrymandering cost Dems 2 dozen seats—only NC’s map fully fell apart

I said this on @nativelandpod.bsky.social but I'll repeat it here: A dangerous narrative is going to be "the GOP gerrymandering didn't work." NO. It worked GREAT. We just OVERCAME it. But we'd have even MORE seats, and different candidates could have won those seats, without the gerryamndering.

The more I think about this the more irritating it is. It’s not just feckless, it’s actively & entirely voluntarily adopting the inevitable Republican talking point that accountability for rampant criminality is just “getting even.”

"The American people don't want us to get even; they want us to get things done on their behalf." House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who is now poised to become the next House Speaker, says that Democrats will focus on affordability concerns and not retribution after their midterm wins.

I think that so many elite institutions and people with important jobs staying on X persuaded many of them the median american voter was a greek statue avatar hailing the thousand year trumpenreich and complaining about race mixing bsky.app/profile/sara...

lmao at all the tech billionaires who saw 2024 and went "mandate???" and tied themselves and their entire fucking industries inextricably to a sinking ship

HEY CIS PEOPLE: here is your reminder that things are Still Not Remotely Okay for trans people in the US, and a fair chunk of this blue wave has come out in favor of that. What we've won is a slim gddamn chance, and we need you to get a crowbar into it and pry it wider.

My fourth and final essay in a series examining Trump's reign as we head now into the final hours before the midterms — this one on how Donald Trump has, through a whole series of unnecessary choices, weakened the country around the world, likely irreparably. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/trump-s-ty...

Trump's Tyranny, Part 4: Superpower Suicide

Never in world history has a country dismantled its core sources of national strength as Trump has attacked ours.

My daylight savings plan is that we continue to set the clocks back by an hour every fall, but don't set them forward in the spring. The legal day precesses around the solar day on a 24 year cycle, and entire age cohorts are defined by whether they spent their childhood under the sun or the moon.

The ‘number of days in a year’ and ‘hours in a day’ should not be constrained by obsolete factors such as the position of the sun in the sky, we need 100 days a year, 100 hours a day, etc. Make it work.

I dreamed last night that Apple's new line of laptops didn't have delete or backspace keys and you had to use the function key to enter Backspace mode, similar to entering Replace mode. In Backspace mode, every key acted as a backspace key.

Something that the mainstream media doesn't explain to voters is that this is by design — one of the main reasons Republicans keep the current healthcare system is because it makes workers reluctant to switch jobs or start a business, which suppresses wages and makes them easier to exploit

It’s easily the biggest barrier to self-employment and entrepreneurship. It’s nearly impossible to have a family and self-insure. Even the crap plans have crazy premiums and god help you if actually need health care.

A lot of people fail to understand that the AI bubble popping won’t mean AI disappears, just as the dot-com crash didn’t stop the internet. The internet still devastated newspapers, killed Blockbuster and transformed how we shop and work. The disruption happened even though many startups failed.

Archiving the Internet and controlling/ protecting the platforms where information is posted currently is of incredible importance. The Internet should not be colonized and monopolized by a few nefarious owners. And it doesn’t have to be. It’s an endless space and there’s much more to be built.

Jezebel’s new owner is reportedly deleting old blogs that aren’t “brand safe,” which means that this very timely investigation I did into a sketchy reality TV producer pushing a rape lawsuit against Trump is seemingly just gone. When I click the link it just goes to their homepage

Screenshot of a Google search result of a Jezebel headline that reads “here’s how that wild lawsuit accusing Trump of raping a 13-year-old…”
