There seems to be a consensus building at the ICC that the 2030 I-Codes are going to allow four-unit buildings in the IRC, and now it’s just a matter of the details. One proposal presented today would only allow two units stacked on top of each other, so no three-fams/triple-deckers/three-flats.

Fun fact: the actual bearing is slightly closer to E-W than N-S. Amtrak internally refers to trains going east and west along the NEC, following Pennsy RR protocol, but externally says N-S.
