Saw the first half of MUSK today - I'm going to watch it in two halves because I feel I need to absorb, there's also only so much Elon I can take, and I have no problem paying twice for this filmmaker @alexgibneyfilm.bsky.social's excellent work. So far it's a thoughtful, compelling documentary.

"Oscar-winner Alex Gibney’s 4-hour documentary about Elon Musk may be the most important film of the year." www.rogerebert.com/reviews/elon...

The legislature has taken important steps over the last decade to exempt beneficial housing and transit projects in existing cities from CEQA, while not applying that to highway expansion and sprawl. Prop 45 opens the floodgates to the latter. www.nrdcactionfund.org/blog/vote-no...

Vote NO on Prop 45 to Keep California's Environmental Laws Strong

Prop 45 is a giant loophole that would dismantle protections Californians spent decades building.

The main argument I've seen from urbanists supporting Prop 45 is that we should ban sprawl & freeway expansions through other means instead of using CEQA to delay them to death. Of course, this entirely ignores that the industry groups backing 45 would steamroll any effort to actually do so!

One of the best things that ever happened for wildlife and wildlife/vehicle collisions. The auto insurance industry should be making huge contributions to these wildlife overpasses especially since they are making massive, near record-breaking profits .

As Joshua Kurlantzick writes, leading democracies are cutting international broadcasters like Voice of America, the BBC and Deutsche Welle just as authoritarian regimes pour money into expanding their own state media—ceding ground in a global war of narratives.

The World’s Autocrats Are Winning the War of Narratives

Amid an accelerating wave of democratic decline, authoritarian regimes are expanding the global reach of their state media outlets.

James Talarico: False claims got millions of views — and this is an example of what I call the ‘rage economy.’ Billionaires who own these platforms get rich, we get angry, and nobody’s life gets better. Conspiracy theories don’t put food on the table, put gas in the tank, or improve our communities.

Huge YIMBY win at the CNN Talarico town hall tonight: asked about lowering housing costs, Talarico touts his work on single-stair reform! "Our outdated buildings didn't allow for single-stair housing, which is smaller apartments, smaller condos. It’s a great entry point for homeownership."

Wealth is inherently political. You can't get big money out of politics. There is literally no way to prevent the rich from shaping public opinion and controlling elections. It's common sense: wealth is power. If you believe in democracy, then learn about Sortition and economic democracy.
