Sometimes I think I’m too deferential to the people in power who I cover and then a more powerful national figure dies and I read all the blue check reporters’ memorials and think “never mind”

this is such a good articulation of why and how I’ve been going borderline insane reading these “leftist” cis male journalists working out their own gender anxieties by lashing out at Platner’s victims

A lot of leftist men were — and seemingly still are — willing to accept Graham Platner's many many faults because they have a sneering, condescending belief that working people in this country are white townie oafs who will only listen to other white townie oafs. www.garbageday.email/p/the-curdli...

What's gutting about this is that Juniper seems to have had a family who supported and loved her, she was in a community that has been explicitly welcoming to trans people, and a man still murdered her. She was living the life so many trans people can only dream of, and it simply didn't matter.

Can you tell us the source of this quote you include from Poilievre? I have looked up speeches he gave in March and can't find him saying this. "If these turncoats have any shred of integrity left, they should resign their seats tonight and run in a by-election tomorrow"
