It took over 90 years to have more disabled cast members in a film than the movie Freaks. Just... Keep that in mind. I'll be seeing this in theaters and I hope many others will too.

Make no mistake, "Being Heumann" is a movie whose significance most abled critics & viewers won't understand. But it represents a breaking of perceptions not just on disabled people, but on the history of #disability in film itself. A film w/ most disabled cast members! #ableism

Maybe it’s the journalist in me but I’m really bristling at a non-fiction book I’m reading about a true event referring to everyone by their first names. Like, I’m immediately dubious about their angle if the author refers to these people like they’re besties.

The anniversary may have been Friday, but spending this weekend revisiting these movies for the first time in 25 years for a piece you'll want to read Monday.

Figured I'd do a proper retweet since it dropped so late last night. I'm one of the few (only?) disabled critics reviewing BEING HEUMANN out of TIFF. In a landscape where the government would love to kill the ADA, and Section 504 has been deemed unnecessary, this is a vital piece of history.

Why are all the film critics white guys again? Yes, I realize there are exceptions (I know some of them), but I just saw a major newspaper near Hollywood had three critics covering Telluride, every one of them a white guy. I see more and more white-guy coverage everywhere.
