This might be my best article on The Film Maven all year. I wrote 2500 words grappling with revisiting 9/11 cinema, seeing these events through film, the stories we choose to tell and the historic liberties we're willing to accept. I'm really proud of this one. thefilmmaven.com/movies-about...

How Does 9/11 Cinema Hold Up 25 Years Later? A Sobering Return

It took Hollywood five years to tell the story of 9/11. It took 25 for me to revisit them.

Maybe it’s the journalist in me but I’m really bristling at a non-fiction book I’m reading about a true event referring to everyone by their first names. Like, I’m immediately dubious about their angle if the author refers to these people like they’re besties.

I had the pleasure of meeting Judy once - she was a force of Nature, so funny and so fierce, and her advocacy shaped so many aspects of our society today. I'm thrilled to see BEING HEUMANN receiving such wonderful reviews! Congratulations to my dear friend @jwbeach.bsky.social - you did it!!!

As an actual disabled critic, BEING HEUMANN is a landmark for disabled representation that abled audiences aren't going to immediately grasp its power. An essential piece of disability history in an era when our rights are being eroded. My review is live: thefilmmaven.com/being-heuman...

Figured I'd do a proper retweet since it dropped so late last night. I'm one of the few (only?) disabled critics reviewing BEING HEUMANN out of TIFF. In a landscape where the government would love to kill the ADA, and Section 504 has been deemed unnecessary, this is a vital piece of history.

Being Heumann Review: The Disability Representation We've Been Waiting For

We finally broke the Tod Browning "Freaks" record for most disabled cast members!

Seeing social sentiments drop for BEING HEUMANN, which I saw a few weeks back. A vital piece of disability history coming at a time when it’s needed most. Ruth Madeley is a stunner. So many moments left me feeling seen. I absolutely adored this.
