The conclusion is published! If you'll indulge me in a bit of philosophising, I try to pinpoint why we (devs and designers) cling to comforting fictions, why we turn process into ritual, and what software could look like if it actually bent toward the people using it.

"What I want most: software that helps me express, formalise, and include my opinions rather than enforcing its opinions on me." In the 3rd part of the Box Model series, @summerscope.bsky.social talks about the design process, intuition, and cargo cult prompting. pydantic.dev/articles/lie...

"The best navigation is the kind nobody notices." On Part 2 of Lies, Damn Lies, and the Box Model, @summerscope talks about the design process behind Logfire's sidebar. The trade-offs, and what "directionally correct" means in practice. Part 3 (and final) out tomorrow.

The Art of Being Difficult

Being difficult is the only path to change. We don’t get change by being obedient. accepting the status quo and accepting “This is the way we have always done things” as a good reason to keep doing things that way. We get change by asking “why?”, asking “who benefits?” asking “how can we do better?”

This project has been a slow burn, a wonderful dialogue with Linda across many months. I hope some teachers find this and find it useful, there’s more sections to come and of course any feedback or requests will help us shape it!

Super excited to be able to publish the People Friendly: Teachers' Guide to AI that the incredible @summerscope.bsky.social and I have been working on. The guide will grow and develop as the technology does, and there's more to come! adsei.org/pfegtai-intr... #EduSKY #EduSKYAU

Optimist: AI has achieved human level performance! Realist: “AI” is a collection of brittle hacks that, under very specific circumstances, mimic the surface level of human intelligence Pessimist: AI HAS achieved human level performance

i am watching THE BEEKEEPER while i do dishes and i somehow did not realize that the concept of this film was "what if you could murder everyone who defrauded your boomer parents with an internet scam?"

Today I am wondering about the insights we could have about the brain if we didn't insist that it recapitulates western power structures For example, to what degree are our hypotheses about prefrontal cortex limited because we call its processes "executive functions" instead of like, "mothering"
