Let's work together to ensure the beautiful game is for everyone who's not a bigot. Kansas City born & raised. Seattle lover. Lancer, Jayhawk, Hornet, Vandal. MA, MFA. Aorta Advocate for The John Ritter Foundation. Heart constantly on my sleeve (messy)

Better Than Nothing is not how we were led to believe this disappointing transfer window would go for Sporting. If you don't possess the necessary acumen, experience, & CHOPS, all the money in the world isn't going to help you. We lacked the acumen, experience, & CHOPS. Sigh. Simply couldn't cut it.

"Y'all" is a natural part of many dialects at this point. It's even being accepted as a universal, non-gendered collective contraction. Is it conversational? Yes, which means it should probably be avoided in formal writing. But in social media/informal contexts? Don't be such a prescriptivist dick.

Minor point but I really hate this performative “y’all” people do to try and appear more folksy. I don’t type in a Yorkshire accent and I did people would rightly tell me to shut up.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”

For several reasons I don't talk openly abt my book project. I'm a fiction writer by training, had incredible professors & guides (Anne Enright, I will never forget you). Nevertheless, I've found writing non-fiction abt my life & family profoundly difficult ...

It is frustrating trying to be an honest, considerate, hardworking person, when many signs indicate it is much more lucrative right now to be a liar and a grifter with no moral core or ethical framework for daily life. I just hope these people eventually get what they deserve.

Guess what, the homeowners at SF Tower are suing the city. I once looked at a tiny studio at SFT; it was $400k. Imagine the home values being affected by having to hear every game & concert across the street inside your v expensive home.

It's funny to me that Kit Harrington saw the backlash that Nicholas Hoult got for signing on to the HP series & decided that was fine for himself after Hoult dropped out bcs of "scheduling conflicts."
