I wrote about my personal (bad) feelings about climate change and why I think “individual action” (often denigrated) is important, at least for preserving one’s own sanity:

Portland City Council adopted a term sheet for the Moda Center renovation, and the Northwest Power and Conservation Council has recommended Oregon, must create billions in new energy infrastructure, partially to accommodate the influx of data centers in the region. "If our psyches are byzantine HVAC systems, mazes of half-mapped ducts and grates and dead-ends, then your favorite piece of pop culture can lead you to who you really are. For Kris, that guilty pleasure takes the form of a psychopath who also has an air vent—a literal conduit—for a head." -Sinacola
I have worked with a lot of critics who would just be like GILLIAN ANDERSON COVERED IN BLOOD but @sinacolad.bsky.social is like there's so much substance in Jane Schoebrun’s new film we don't even get to GILLIAN ANDERSON COVERED IN BLOOD www.portlandmercury.com/movies-and-t...
Writer-director Jane Schoebrun always balances high-concept metatextual fantasia with deeply tactile, impressionistic filmmaking. Their third fictional feature, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, is both a celebration and bloodletting of the slasher genre.

Now that Rebecca’s back at work, these boys are back to joining me in the office.
Last week, Morillo 1 failed with a 5-7 vote. Today, @councilorkanal.bsky.social and I introduced a revised amendment because important questions remain unanswered. This morning, the revised amendment (Morillo/Kanal 1) did not pass. The vote was 6-6.
Been thinking about this one a lot since I watched it boxd.it/fJjo61
A review of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026)
Jane Schoenbrun treats pop culture like personal conduits—like ducts digging into our psyche, shaped to fit one's true HVAC system—that lead to our inner selves. So I thought a lot about guilty pleasu...

Also shoutout (derogatory) to Julia Brim-Edwards, who could clearly tell how stupid of a move this was by the county and voted in favor anyway Get JBE the fuck out of elected office ASAP
Starting to think Republican governance isn't a good idea.
Three years ago, EPA proposed cybersecurity rules for municipal water systems. Republicans sued to prevent the rules from going into effect, and that was the end of that. Now seven states' water systems are under attack by Iran.
honestly stunned by the absolute robbery of Portland approved by @councilordunphy.bsky.social alongside Clark, Pirtle-Guiney, Smith, and Zimmerman (to a lessor extent Novick) setting up Portland with the worst stadium deal in the country AS THE OPENING TERMS IN THE NEGOTIATION. flabbergasting.
so many academics and writers outside of cinema think film criticism is easy and when it’s proven to not be the case, people defend them as if they’re children. it’s pathetic!
Please let Dom write something for your boutique Fitzcarraldo 4K release. It'll be good!
Here is me shooting my shot: I recently won a national award for my film criticism at the Portland Mercury, but I have never been asked to do an intro, or a Q&A, or write an essay for a physical media release, so I would like to state that I am shamelessly available for all of those things.

Some context regarding Moda Center renovations. The Trail Blazers $600 million request is larger than any recent/planned public contribution to an NBA/NHL arena renovation. It's not "market rate" or even reasonable. What Dundon is demanding is an outlier.
