One of my favourite episodes I've made was Name Changers, where people talked about choosing their names (many of them as part of a Gender Journey) and now someone is seeking trans people to share their name stories anonymously - submit here if that's you: reclaimournames.com/2026/06/23/w...

I’m Developing a Trans Names Workbook!

Anonymously Share the Story of Your Name I changed my name or plan to: I don’t want to or can’t change my name: As I’ve now told hundreds of trans and queer organizations via unso…

Shouldn't that be "right-wing" Free Speech Union? Same writer, same paper, but only the tax group gets called out as "left-wing" huh? (And if your response is everyone knows the FSU is right-wing: a) they do not, and b) some people think the Nazis were socialist because of their name.)

Oh are we identifying the ideology of lobby groups now? That's great! I look forward to the NZ Initiative, Free Speech Union, Taxpayers' Union, and every bank economist being called right-wing in the headlines of their numerous self-generated stories from now on.

🌨️ Here's an anatomy of the snow flurries which caused such excitement in Wellington yesterday 📉 The high for the day was 8.9°C at 1am. The strengthening southerly pushed temperatures down through the morning, until the sun started to get a bit of strength and start increasing the temperature.

4th August 2026 Hourly temperature at Kelburn. A line graph with time on the x axis and temperature on the y axis. It shows temperatures peaking at 1am, then slowly decreasing through the morning, then picking up slightly towards midday. At 2pm temperatures suddenly dive to 1.8 degrees and then wobble slowly upwards through the rest of the day

I can never get over how much these people just hate life. The amount of money, time and energy they pour into being utterly spiteful and miserable is astonishing. I'm sure part of the reason why the left struggles to counter them is because we actually enjoy life and want to be doing things

I can’t say enough how vital this kind of writing is. It shouldn’t be rare to see decision makers & leaders being held to account, but this is one of the few crystal clear, absolutely on point articles I’ve seen outside of the excellent work being done by those who don’t have a mainstream platform.

“There is at least one important section of society where little shittery is rampant, destructive and harmful to the environment of the workplace. It’s actively impeding the ability of well-behaved people to perform well & limiting productivity. I’m talking, of course, about parliament.” No notes🙌

Chuds can and do ride bikes but I think riding bikes in the car-brained US is a moral, pro-social, pro-environment, lefty political act. Accordingly, when bike brands post AI slop they tend to get obliterated, which is very funny.

AI slop posted by SF Bike Party on instaSF Bike party got so much pushback they had to post this simpering garbage:

Thank you, Jesse. I genuinely loved this month's artwork.
SF Bike Party is run by volunteers. It's a nonprofit community where people donate their own time, creativity, and effort to make this amazing event happen for San Francisco every month.
Instead of writing, "This Al artwork is terrible," imagine writing, "I'd love to create next month's artwork."
I can promise you the volunteers behind SF
Bike Party would be thrilled to receive messages like that.
When you attack and insult people who are volunteering their time without getting paid, you're not making the event better. You're only discouraging the very people who make this incredible community possible.
A little kindness and appreciation go a long way.

Do any of my NZ pocket friends like to make entomology-related art/merch & would like to sell their crafts at our upcoming NZ Entomological Society conference 1st week September? If so, please get in touch. 🪲 🐞 🪱 🪰 🕷

Let me take a minute to tell you how bonkers this is. The first election I worked was (I think) 2008, before there was really any advance voting. At every election, if you weren't on the roll, we let you cast a special vote and then worked out if you were eligible afterwards. Two reasons: 1/2

The Electoral Commission has told staff to turn away voters who aren't on the printed roll and who say they're unenrolled, but has no plans to count how many people will be affected. newsroom.co.nz/2026/08/03/t...

"Why can't you just appreciate how revolutionary the job-taking, environment-degrading, information-shredding, technology-hoarding, economy-swamping machine is?" My brother in Christ, there may indeed be a revolution in part because of "AI," but it might not be the one you wanted.

That said, let us take a moment to thank our Bluesky Trans and Furry Elders for freaking out Jack Dorsey so much he bolted and left us this nice social media playground, taking most of his crypto chuds with him. We thank you for your service.

I should be clear that the architecture of Bluesky makes it the social media place I most like to be. I'm not on social media to be an influencer or instigator; I want to hang out with folks and have an enjoyable time. This place delivers on that. I hope it continues to do so for a long time.

...if mommy was somehow using up the entire neighborhood's electricity and water, copying from your classmates' answers, didn't care if those answers were correct or if you got a good grade, was blowing cigarette smoke in your face the whole time, and was also setting the house on fire.

Winston Peters described him as a “member of the public” the party had no responsibility for. He is in fact an executive committee member of Young NZF (at least he was described as such in 2024) and spoke on behalf of the group at the party convention last month.
