my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.
She didn’t just read it and say “okay, if that’s what it says that’s what it says, that’s the rule, period.” She thought, “I don’t get that. I’m going to think about it.” That’s the intersection of your religious tradition with your independent soul.
I mean just within this story, you get not only the substance of this observation from her, which is beautiful, but the very fact that when she read scripture, she wanted to truly understand it, to see how it made sense to her and was consistent with what she knew was right and sensible.

i’m tired and listless and unmotivated and while i have good reasons to be so and no reason to believe it’s not temporary the fear that it’s an indication of depression or dinosaur bones or adhd treatments no longer working as they should is still very much alive and well

in happier news i had the absolute best birthday yesterday, i paddleboarded & swam, received 3 gorgeous homemade cards, was made delicious cake & a sausage/bacon sandwich, and had fish & chips & pizza for tea, all in the company of 16 of my closest friends in one of my favourite places in the world

So yesterday I drove from London to the Lake District with a minor 7 hour delay at Oxford services cuz I got rear ended at speed trying to enter a roundabout. All occupants of the car fine but poor darling car was a write-off due to being nearly twenty years old.
I’m SO excited to go on holiday to the lake district for a week with 16 of my closest friends (3 of whom are children like many of my closest friends 😂) but I’m also ALREADY pining for ice skating and I don’t have time to go today 😂
You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.
