Very happy to share this. This report shows a tiny bit of what we have done so far and what we are currently doing as an #EMCA study group in Spanish! Thank you to @gchavezlazo.bsky.social, @bbasileg.bsky.social and @belvelvet.bsky.social for being part of this!

Basically it seems that any original idea you ever thought you had about conversation, either Goffman or Sacks already had it
my entire thesis proposal depends on this weekend so yeah… anxiety 😵💫
I started covering this last year, and I can't overstate how important this is: the Trump administration officially labeled some of the most commonly-used forms of birth control as 'abortion' jessica.substack.com/i/173447780/...

"Workers most excited and impressed by... corporate bullshit (a specific type of bullshit that uses puzzling corporate buzzwords and jargon and is ultimately 'semantically empty and often confusing', may be the least equipped to make effective, practical business decisions."
Workers who fall for ‘corporate bullshit’ may be worse at their jobs, study finds

Secuenciando just got its own BlueSky account! Now, on this page, we will continue sharing updates on our study group — one devoted to learning, developing, and promoting conversation analysis locally in Peru 🇵🇪 and South America 🌎. #EMCA
👁️🗨️ Secuenciando is officially opening its 3rd season: "Designing turns, constructing actions". This season's theme is turn design, covering diverse aspects of that area. We will have data sessions in Spanish with current data from Peru's general election and its presidential debates. #EMCA
A collage-based artistic creation workshop revealed how a group of incarcerated women counter the dynamics and effects of imprisonment through individual reflection, creative practice, and the sustaining of collective bonds.

it’s been a while since I’ve experienced this amount of chronic pain which sucks honestly, but it’s also great somehow!? it used to be permanent so I’m gonna take the fluctuations as a win anyways
I’m finding it particularly hard to just ‘be’ & ‘work’, when news of death/war pervade all my media & senses. Every fiber of my being knows that we can just keep still, ‘normal’ whilst the world & future of others beings is being brutally burnt! #endgenocide #resist #NoToWar #Peace #HumanRights
damn it’s crazy how the slurs filled the chat all by themselves. couldn’t be helped i’m sure. chats are always devolving of their own accord
“Never again” is meaningless if it doesn’t include this. There’s no reason to mince words other than cowardice: these are concentration camps and never again is now.
Attempted suicides, fights, pain: 911 calls reveal misery at ICE’s largest detention facility
The calls to 911 poured in from staff at Camp East Montana, the nation's largest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility, in its first months of operation in El Paso, Texas.

I’ve spent years, decades, obsessing over the Bush Administration’s Iraq WMD lies, writing about them, debunking them. I can think of no lie about Iraq WMDs told by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld et al that comes even close to the enormity and absurdity of this lie from Donald Trump.
Trump: "If we didn't hit within 2 weeks, they would've had a nuclear weapon. When crazy people have nuclear weapons bad things happen."
We need to bring back doubt! I understand the fear of uncertainty but this is crazy! People treat LLMs like some sort of updated Delphic Oracle while it’s just some glorified text predicting tool
LLMs are an epistemic nightmare. open.substack.com/pub/garymarc...
Anne Frank died of typhus in a camp she wasn't shot she wasn't gassed she got sick and had no healthcare poor nutrition unsanitary conditions this is what we are seeing these two things are the same if you don't think so, I don't trust you that's it we have to LET THEM ALL OUT!
Dear #EMCA community, Secuenciando’s first season, “Intro to CA,” has successfully come to an end! We read a variety of papers and book chapters covering the fundamentals of Conversation Analysis and had the chance to immerse ourselves in a couple of data sessions in Spanish.
Hi everyone! My name’s Belen and I’m a Linguistics Student at PUCP 📍🇵🇪 With some dear friends and colleagues, we created an interdisciplinary group in which we study #ConversationAnalysis (AC), called “Secuenciando”. We started last term and we’re really proud of the work we’ve done so far :)
I wrote an article about the psychology by which disinformation campaigns work, with examples from anti-trans propaganda. It's not just about individual beliefs, but also the way our institutions and norms are manipulated. Please read and share! pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/Ant...?
Anti-trans attitudes have existed for years, but organised disinformation campaigns are increasingly driving them

I’m very glad to work with @avasquezkana.bsky.social in this new project
Dear #EMCA community, I'm very happy to announce the foundation of a small study group devoted to Conversation Analysis in Peru, composed primarily of undergraduate and graduate students eager to understand the technicalities of naturally occurring social interaction.
Four recent ethnographies that I thought were pretty good, gives me confidence in the future of anthropology
it's too late, I've already written up a poorly fitting analogy that makes your position on the matter seem foolish
Very excited to share our brand new paper "Self-esteem modulates the similarity of the representation of the self in the brains of others." We show brain patterns for self are reflected brain-to-brain in those of our peers & are influenced by self-evaluative attitudes www.nature.com/articles/s44...
