I wish there were the ability here to re-share something multiple times.
Every now and then someone takes a run at me along the lines of "I don't understand why you, a scifi writer, don't appreciate 'AI'," and I'm all, motherfucker, it's *because* I'm a science fiction writer I have the positions I have, how many times do we have to fucking yell "torment nexus," my dude
Thank you to my team for making this possible! For the amazing music, programming and guidance, @jettbarker.bsky.social For our backgrounds, @sanguinelapin.bsky.social Concept art, @rexr0sario.bsky.social My editor and story consultant @littlekuriboh.bsky.social + other int'l collaborators
I made a game in a week. It's a 30-minute body horror concept about ignoring the call of identity and the fear of pursuing transness in a mature marriage. marinmmiller.itch.io/two-swans
I love when you ask someone why they have to use AI and suddenly all other search engines don’t exist there is no spellcheck besides quill bot and no one has yet invented a map, or a book, to look at for reference. You see no one was able to write anything prior to 2022. It was impossible.
open.substack.com/pub/eelsongs... Over on Substack we break down the novelization process and why I should consider taking up graphic design.

So, when I’m writing each show, I have a designated Funny Little Drink. Haven’s was a cranberry cider. River Run’s has been whiskey, neat. But I need a non-alcoholic funny Drink. So. What tea do you all rec for American gothic period dark fantasy Mississippi River? (Decaf ideal.)

I’m still not over this: I went to the fabric store today and was looking at different colors of red cotton. When asked, I explained that I’m a horror creator, making a blouse for some work events. Cut to 3 older ladies debating which cotton lawn is sufficiently blood-like.
the-gospel-of-haven.simplecast.com/episodes/cha... Chapter 11: Remember/Reframe. Live now for patrons, July 31 for everyone. When she was younger, there had been a boardwalk.
Remember when people were claiming the use of em dashes was an AI giveaway? The horror when I discovered while book editing that em dashes are recommended by the Chicago manual of style, a major guide for American English language publishing… ANY BOOK IN THE US IS LIKELY TO USE THIS???
It has been 0 days since I got a swathe of comments complaining that we mentioned the existence of racism in an episode. As is my rule, I will now be adding 2 more explicitly anti colonialist episodes into the rotation. You’re never gonna make us stop, babe, shut up or leave
It's time! The season 2 finale of our very first show is here!
EPISODE 12- The Windsinger feeds.acast.com/public/shows... Wind and Water, Hearth and Home, All beneath the blue sky dome, When the crying gulls have flown, Wind and Water, bring me home Created by Lou Sutcliffe and Daisy McNamara
So it feels weird to say “I” when talking about show stuff sometimes on the socials. Like I’m pretending my team doesn’t exist, even if they aren’t directly involved in whatever process in referencing. What I’m saying is bringing back the Royal We has really been working for me
Alright, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. I’m writing a book! For details, FAQ's, preorder information and more: open.substack.com/pub/eelsongs...
And here's some of the weird little guys me and @leslekieuart.bsky.social have been working on. Fun fact: Kieu, @valdevia.art and I went to the Rocky Mountains and saw an elk, which is not the same as observing a giant walking jellyfish but still kinda cool I guess.
A mysterious group known only as the "Birdwatchers" debates over the naming of a new creature.

Getting followed by AI bots so, just in case: Fuck AI and fuck you for using it
open.substack.com/pub/eelsongs... Guess who created a substack? It's me! I wanted a central place to share updates on all things Eelsong, especially The Gospel of Haven. If you want to be informed about everything I've got cooking, including some very exciting new projects, here's the place.

if you arent listening to podcasts made by transgender women while youre on the clock then you arent stealing enough time from your boss
I really feel like half the battle of planning writing is fighting the cringe instinct. I hash out plots when on my walks or morning swim, which probably confuses the dogwalkers as to why there’s a girl thrashing in the water going I HAVE TO BE BEAUTIFUL AND TRUE CRINGE IS DEAD. Trust the process
They can get their damn ideas like the rest of us, by driving around listening to Pretty Hate Machine and then writing fix fic of something you’re still mad about.
Saw this as an (intended) insult (from an AI fan) some days back: "A brain-only writer." (amused side-eye) Yes indeed! And some day, when your data-center-fueled crutch fails and leaves you unable to "write" without it? I'll *still* have a brain. Which *you'll* have been taught to forget how to use.
We're so starving for consequences we're reading Vatican press releases
