Been a strange day. I went to a session of a post-cancer course and managed to stay until the halfway point before I had to leave. It was in the same place where I got treatment and... well... let's just say that my intense context-specific memory worked against me. It was horrifically triggering.

Need to harness the power of Bluesky, so reposts are appreciated. If anyone here, or anyone you know attends Bangor University (the Welsh one) and needs a room for the upcoming year, get in touch. One of my son's housemates has dropped out at the last minute, so their house is one short.

I read this book (100 years old this year) in preparation for the episode, & can confirm that as well as everything else Emma & Adrian said of it, it is also extremely funny! #Booksky

A passage from the book Laura Willowes, by Sylvia Townsend Warner. The text reads:

for my life, I ran nearly all the way home, and most of them came with me, either inside or out. And when I rushed up the street calling in an exhausted voice for onions, there was Pandora !'

‘I had been invited to tea’, said Pandora rather primly.

'Yes, and I'd forgotten it, and gone out for a walk. Pandora, if I'd had my deserts, you would have scorned me, and left me to perish. Pandora, I shall never forget your magnanimous way of behaving. That was what did it, really. One has to offer marriage to a young woman who has picked dead wasps out of one's armpit.'

Laura had never seen Titus so excited. His face was flushed, his voice was loud, the pupils of his eyes were extraordinarily dilated. But how much of this was due to love and how much to wasps and witchcraft it was impossible to say.

My lovely Bean called me today to wish me happy Star Trek Day. He saw it online and thought of me 🥰 I thanked him and added; "But of course, every day is Star Trek day." He bought me a vintage Data figure, still in original packaging with all the accessories, for my 50th birthday. I am blessed

Woke up this morning and this beautiful trophy was in the house and it was not a dream. Utterly stunned, extraordinarily grateful, deliriously happy. Such a privilege to be part of this year's shortlist, huge thanks to the Clarke Award judges and congrats again to all the brilliant nominees 💫🤍🐺

My new novella is just around the corner. Gothic horror sci-fi, an old house, a family secret; the British class system, a US visitor and something nasty in the woods.
