We miiiiight be able to sneak in a pretty substantial change to GNOME Shell in time for the next release: moving the search results to an overlay instead of taking over the screen.
I swear I have a real job… I’m home after #TrustCon where @roost.tools was EVERYWHERE. We presented in 6 sessions across 3 days, largely thanks to @julietshen.bsky.social. Even when we weren’t in a session, we got countless shout-outs from T&S pros encouraging folks to adopt our tools.
That's a wrap on TrustCon 🐓 3 days, 6 sessions, 1 launch (Osprey 1.1.0!), many chicken hats. Favorite moment: non-engineers building working moderation rules in our workshop — safety tooling you can study, modify, and use. One year of Coop & Osprey. Just getting started.

If your desktop has a system tray, that *is* the correct place to surface background apps! Nice work, KDE. kde.org/announcement... This will help GNOME as well as more apps will be incentivized to use modern cross-desktop APIs that are less prescriptive with exactly *how* things are displayed.
