"libraries and bookstores routinely destroy their own books as a normal part of operations" is a counterintuitive fact. kind of like how machine dishwashers use less water than handwashing. of course, an LLM would have told 404's writers that if they bothered to ask one before hitting "publish"

Below the hidden username, in white text:

"A perfect conceit for the 20s: the world's biggest bookstore has become a destroyer of books"

**Quoted post (in a bordered box below)**

"amazon being so secretive we gotta apple airtag a book shipment to see that they're buying and destroying them for AI but also having this on the warehouse front door:"

**Photograph inside the quoted post**

Beneath that text is a color photograph taken outside a low, modern commercial building — the entrance to a warehouse or office. The scene is shot at dusk or in the evening.

At the center are a pair of glass double doors with white metal frames and long vertical handles. The dark glass reflects a parking lot behind the photographer: parked cars, a deep blue twilight sky, silhouettes of palm trees, and a small glowing yellow-and-blue sign in the distance.

To the left of the doors is a large window covered with a decal of a circular logo. The circle has a black background with a cream-colored border, and across the top in bold cream letters it reads "VGT3." Inside the circle is a cartoon dinosaur — a gray Tyrannosaurus rex drawn from the side, mouth open wide showing rows of white teeth and a red tongue, with a fierce, grinning expression. In its small clawed hands it holds an open book with a bright red cover, as if reading it.

To the right of the doors is another window decorated with cartoon plant decals: a tall palm tree with a pinkish-red trunk and green fronds, and a smaller bright green leafy plant beside it. A small white notice sign with the amazon logo is posted on that window; the smaller print is not legible, but it includes a red circular "no" symbol.

In front of the building runs a horizontal metal guardrail, painted light gray. On the right side of the frame sits a rectangular trash bin with a speckled beige stone-textured body and a black lid. The ground in front is pale concrete pavement.

🛑 NUTRIENT CHECKPOINT 🛑 Have you eaten anything today? Hydrated? Taken your meds if you need them? Try to stop and do that if you haven't. drop an emoji or gif or just tell me a nutrient you have consumed today

when people online criticize me for using AI on an environmental point, i respond in ways like - go vegan and come back to me - don't own a car and come back to me - i'm disabled, i need this but then someone was actually vegan, carless, disabled, and anti-AI, so I kind of had to listen to them

i had to evict a roommate a few months ago because i found out she was in possession of illegal csam, the worst part was she was relying on me for emotional support through the eviction even though i, myself was a victim of child sex abuse

Yeah, so I basically received a pay cut today. My concern isn't how I'm going to make up that deficit, it's how insane I'm going to be in my personal life in order to squeeze out work productivity. Gonna have to start so many beefs with random people

sometimes i view my productivity system like a primordial soup where improvements just accidentally emerge and the only thing i can do when i have time is to tweak the environment so that the emergences happen more often
