The Atmosphere needs more drawbridges. - Meet folks where they are, don't make them migrate - Augment their environments in useful ways - Make it easy to make them publish to the Atmosphere.

Just released an early preview of Zemble, a @zotero.org plugin for @semble.so! - Augment you Zotero library with all of the activity happening on Semble/Atmosphere. - Easily save and view items in Zotero on Semble. - Publish Zotero collections as Semble collections.

Check out this exciting workshop at @acm-cscw.bsky.social in October! Calling #ATScience builders and researchers to participate and share your work - lots of synergies with what we're doing here ✨

Friends! I'm bad at advertising but better late than never! I'm co-organizing a workshop at #CSCW2026 exploring the future of infrastructure, in conversation with its deep roots in CSCW scholarship. Please join us! cscw2026-infrastructure-workshop.github.io My short pitch below 👇

We're looking for a CV/ML Engineer to help us improve the machine learning systems that power iNaturalist's species identification and geographic range modeling. If you're excited to help build tools that help millions of people engage with nature, we'd love to hear from you! Apply: buff.ly/YZqaW6c

Image of flowers with text overlaid saying: "iNaturalist: We're hiring! Computer vision/machine learning engineer. Full time, remote in the United States."

"a universal approach to quality assurance of research is no longer appropriate...we propose a layered approach...mov[ing] away from the norm all research must be peer-reviewed [to] a combination of trust markers, peer engagement, and evidence synthesis" researchonresearch.org/the-future-o...

The Future of Peer Review

A major new RoRI report reveals that peer review is at a breaking point and outlines an ambitious blueprint for system-wide reform

The paperback of “Invisible Rulers: The Ppl Who Turn Lies Into Reality” comes out in 1 mo. It has the story of the machine that went after us in a new epilogue.(Invisiblerulers.com) Media folks, pls cover this loss for AFL. I’m very happy to talk ab it. The public needs to understand these attacks.

I know it seems like a heretical idea, but one way to figure out if a preprint is really interesting (to you) is... to read the preprint. Then, in the spirit of sharing, send a note to authors: a simple kudos or a more detailed question. I do this a dozen times a year. It's awesome. Try it.

My book is coming out in October and will be available open access! However, for those who prefer physical copies, Barnes & Noble is currently running a preorder sale for members. Use code PREORDER25 to get 25% off the paperback! www.barnesandnoble.com/w/in-referee...

This was a blast! Some nuggets: 0: Preprints are amazing 1: Let's build infra that empowers rich interactions with *constellations* of scientific objects 2: Narratives are great + meaning-bearing, let's keep them alongside structured semantics 3: AI motivates + could greatly enable (1) + (2)
