In light of the findings in the CLPE Reflecting Realities report, in 2025 I’m going to be starting regular free Ask Me Anything Zoom sessions for UK children’s writers of colour and BookTrust will host the first in March to help reach more writers! 📚

Authors receive a payment every time you borrow a book, audiobook or ebook from libraries in 35 countries. Those countries include the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany to name but a few. Borrowing a book helps the author’s pocket as well as yours.

A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.

Not sure of the way the artist intended for this piece to be seen. One of these has got to be right.

Hi, Bluesky! Figured I’d introduce myself properly. I’m the author and illustrator of To The Other Side, as well as illustrator of other books. I tuit in Spanish and English about migration, politics, books, walks, dogs, and now about being a parent. Basically, if it’s in my brain, it comes out.

The premise that mass deportations shouldn’t happen because immigrants pay more in taxes than what it would cost to deport us is 😵‍💫 how about don’t tear families apart period.

I know I bang on about this but I think the fight needs to be taken to publishers on CSR grounds. Lots of publishers are signed up to agreements on forestry stewardship, the Green Book Alliance etc - AI is so terrible for the environment, it could be terrible publicity for them.
