Anti fascist urbanist. My "bluesky posts" represent myself and do not represent my employer or any affiliated groups and organizations.

I dont like that at a time of ever increasing importance in local news coverage that Berkeleyside is too scared to host any candidate opeds so policies can be laid out clearly If i just wanted to read local culture things i have the Berkeley Times and other weekly magazines

I dont understand why transfer are so hard for BART. An orange Berryessa just took off from MacArthur (next 17 mins) instead of waiting for the SFO train. No operator announcement or anything so DTO bound passagers could get back on board. Its not the Tokyo subway its a baby tier metro.

Clint Eastwood movies are always so corny to me. He's always trying to be a tough guy in a strange world where nobody just swings at him while he's delivering his old man speech.

The trash management situation with bike lanes on Milvia is a bit bad. Like is there nowhere that dumpster can go but on the sidewalk? Meanwhile the dumpster on the left side is forcing riders out the trackeay.

AI companies purposely marketing themselves as evil and humble bragging about hacking other companies really deserve all the anti-AI, anti-data center backlash they get. Zero sympathy. Like why do you behave like that?

A driver hit me with their car today while making a right-turn-on-red. I’m uninjured, and also more angry than usual at how we let car drivers kill us with only the occasional, incremental, reactionary change to the street.

Sometimes I get annoyed by the amount of words we waste on the Trump Admin. It's some little nazi that runs all the social media accounts purposely appropriating pop culture and defiling it with the intent of pissing people off. It's not any more complicated than that.

The White House tried to turn Spider-Man into an ICE mascot. There’s just one problem: a classic Marvel comic shows Spider-Man protecting undocumented migrants, condemning anti-immigrant rhetoric, and protesting a deportation arrest.

Sneering about the "faculty lounge" is deeply funny. Most departments don't have one, but if they do, it's like a wall of mailboxes, a coffee maker and maybe a mini-fridge. You're basically sneering about the break room on The Office. "Oooh, look who has a *vending* machine! Excuse me, m'lord!"

"When properly regulated, [Automated Enforcement Technology] does not pose the same threats to privacy as license-plate-reader surveillance" "AETs are designed solely to capture information on cars that commit specific moving violations" taking photos only when a camera-enforceable violation occurs

Part of a table showing the differences between automated traffic enforcement and license plate reader surveillance

Happy to finally publish this! Many object to automated enforcement legislation on privacy grounds, and invoke the ACLU's name. But those same people seem perfectly fine with dragnet surveillance of motorists conducted by license plate readers. Make it make sense. www.aclum.org/news/were-pr...
