Another couple of teams from Royal London came out with us last week to Swanston Farm. The group tackled gorse clearing with gusto to create space for new tree planting and provided some care to a young, establishing hedgeline. Thank you for all your help.

A smidgen of Marmite works wonders, especially with mushrooms. Your dhal needs tamarind. You don't hate aubergines/cabbage, you just haven't had it cooked right. Black pepper on peanut butter. Bubble 'n' Squeak is sublime. Lasagne is a faff to make. You must learn how to make a white sauce.

The Sea Starts Here. I thought I was observant of the world around me but it was only today that I noticed the gully gratings round our way all have this logo on them. It’s part of a drive to clear up our waterways by discouraging litter which ends up in the sea when dropped in the street

Forty years ago, on a September night very like this one, I packed my clothes, records and books into my dad’s car and we drove to Edinburgh to my new digs as I started college. Tonight, I took a drive over to capture some of that atmosphere – and the close to my old flat was open! Still gorgeous.
