Excited to share this new preprint, led by graduate student Andrew Johns! We used amber suppression to install photocrosslinkers in PTP1B to enable identification of new substrates. Our method detects localization- and stimulation-dependent changes in substrate scope. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

In situ identification of substrates of the protein tyrosine phosphatase PTP1B using site-specific photo-crosslinking

Protein tyrosine phosphorylation is critical for cellular function, and aberrant phosphorylation is tied to a wide range of human diseases. Identifying the substrates of protein tyrosine phosphatases,...

Are you interested in understanding protein dynamics and allostery in biomedically relevant "loopy" enzymes? We are looking for postdocs to join our group at GT for both applied and method development work. If you are interested, please email me your CV, cover letter, and details of 2-3 referees.

My department is open to hosting a Starting Grant lab. If you are eligible and want to do biochemistry broadly defined (we like everything, from biophysics to systems biology!) consider applying. My department is the best and Zurich is pretty good too! www.nature.com/naturecareer...

Check out our latest preprint, from Anne van Vlimmeren in my group and Ross Giglio in @jlmcfalinefigueroa.bsky.social's lab. We used single-cell transcriptomics, biochemistry, and structural analysis, to reveal how mechanistically distinct SHP2 disease mutations yield different cellular states.

Excited to share our lab's latest preprint, led by graduate student Minhee Lee, with contributions from former undergrad Zijing Wang and grad student Andrew Johns! We show that substrate specificity information coupled with AF3 models can be used to design selective tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
