I grew up in a church that veered into apocalyptic dispensationalism under a dismayed and confused moderate pastor in the '70/80s, and we read Hal Lindsey's Late Great Planet Earth in friggin' Sunday School! Left Behind was at least fiction, Lindsey was taught to me as almost gospel-level dicta.
I can only imagine how much discussion and behind-the-scenes labor this took, but this is absolutely the right thing to do.
