BREAKING: We’re suing Texas A&M University’s Board of Regents to challenge their censorship policy that restricts instruction on race, sexual orientation, and gender. Public universities can't ban ideas they don't like.

Fellow academics: I know a Haitian PhD student who due to TPS termination needs another institutional affiliation not in the USA. Do you or someone you know have an avenue for them? If so, DM me.
#LongCovid is not a ‘subject’ to dispute. It’s a health condition that changes people’s lives. Definitions can evolve & that’s not an excuse to dismiss the illness itself. Diagnostic criteria for diabetes have repeatedly changed over time but no one takes u seriously if you say diabetes in disputed!
Long covid is a disputed subject, at best.
Unpacking what are (I hope) the last two kitchen boxes this morning, and thinking like an old prospector: We've struck tupperware!!! (This is exciting because it's the last big thing that I've been budgeting space for) (Also, holy shit do I have so much kitchen stuff!!!!)
all I confidently have here is "1604, at Chesterton" if anyone wants to have a crack at this? #earlymodern paleography puzzle of the day! 🗃️
This genuinely made my day. Thank you for turning one tiny statistic from my slides into something so thoughtful and beautiful. Every green owl stands for the people who made #DH2026 possible. 💚🦉 #DHmakes
For Misun Yun, I ran with the slide that noted there were 40+ volunteers. So I highlighted 40 owls in green thread like the green volunteer shirts. #DHmakes #DH2026
Here a compilation of stupid things library consultants have said to me in solidarity with library pals at Lambeth Libraries where genius consultants has decided that a qualified head of library service post isn't really essential.
"History involves sorting and organizing hundreds of thousands of facts" I remain astounded by how loud and wrong people are about what history actually is.
Our phones just dinged for a dust storm warning like a tornado warning! Simultaneously, there is a severe thunderstorm warning, an extreme heat warning, a wind advisory, and a flood watch. Welcome to the Southwest!
Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
Like sales teams that ring a bell when they make a sale, as we're unpacking boxing in the new house, every time one of us empties a box, we're squeaking one of those annoying rubber chickens in celebration 😂🐔

It is amusing as a book historian who works primarily with inventories to check off all my worldly possession on the moving inventory list as the moving guys bring them into the house. But all items are accounted for, and only 3 things damaged (none sentimental). We call that a win!
Interesting #BookHistory things in the new house: there’s a mezuzah! I’m not sure if the current owners or the previous owners/builders were Jewish, but it’s cool to see
I don’t want to be too sensationalist about this but also I’m the least violent person in the world and I think if someone said this to my face I’d hit them
No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.
Please note this is not what libraries do with weeding, where we balance space, needs of our community, and often send our books off to new homes thru sales.

Surely the solution here is just *don't use AI tools* for your writing and research and continue to do your writing and research in ALL the ways you were doing it before you started using AI instead of doing the work??
