there's been a surge in support for the death penalty again, but people forget that we're not against the death penalty because we think evil people don't deserve to die, we're against it because the government having the power to kill someone they deem guilty can be abused by whoever is in power

Note It's very hard to convince yourself to get out of bed when your first job of the day is cleaning up cat litter trays before it gets too hot Uuurrgggghhh....

Young'un made us pinhole viewers to watch the eclipse yesterday but the best photo I got was of the reflections on the back of Stan the Van through the leaves of our tree. Dozens of tiny reflected eclipses, showing very clearly the crescent remaining

Another early morning train run, this time to collect Stan the Van (the Volkswagen Caravelle I inherited from my Dad) from his MOT. Stan has had troubles with starting lately - starter motor and ignition switch both replaced so hopefully now we're sorted 🤞🏼

Today is the 47th anniversary of this clearly unimprovable photo, from a story so absurd that it shouldn’t be true, but is: the day a team of workers from British Waterways pulled the plug out of the Chesterfield Canal, and all the water emptied out

A man with a spectacular 1970s mullet, wearing big wellies and a v-neck jumper over a T-shirt, looks at camera as he stands on a boat which is itself standing on the muddy bottom of an empty canal. He is holding up an enormous wooden plug on a long chunky chain

Do you want to hazard a guess at what this “jaw-dropping” list of freebies included? What luxuries asylum seekers might be being given “for free” in Thetford? Xboxes? Plasma TVs? iPhones? Ferraris? Let's take a look👀 🧵 1/22

Express headline: The jaw-dropping list of everything asylum seekers in Thetford were 'given for free'.

International Cat Day, you say? What an excellent excuse to post Zephyrus and Morpheus for the hundredth time There's only six weeks between these two, Zeph still has lots of catching up to do, but he's eating enough for ten cats at the moment!

A tale of two ships. One was ‘discovered’ on 8 August 1903, at which point it had last seen the light of day an estimated 1,069 years before, the other was “the pride of Britain’s North Atlantic Squadron” and just over a year old, and ran aground about 100 metres from a bloody great lighthouse 🧵

HMS Raleigh, 1922—a ship, listing heavily, in water shallower than it was designed for. In nautical jargon, it’s fucked

Hurrah it is Wednesday and the weasels are dancing as always! A bit of Disorder and Joy Division today. The weasels are off on their hols for the next 2 Wednesdays and not sure if we’ll have a signal to post, so maybe see you, but if not, don’t forget to dance like a weasel, you know you want to!!

Behold my 12 week old midget in his new shiny fur! He's had a 💩 test and has a massive parasitic load which explains all his symptoms There is a treatment available to support his immune system and he should eventually be fine! 😅🥰 He's showing off his fabulous face furniture for #WhiskersWednesday

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

Zeph had a health wobble across the weekend but is back up and firing on all cylinders Here's his "are you going to put any more food in my dish because I just finished all of that meal in one go" face... #CatSky
