Just saw Facebook antivaxxers speculating that 80-year-old Dolly Parton’s death was hastened by the COVID vaccine she helped fund the development of and received—half a decade ago—and am thinking about how the past decade spent catering to these people has been nothing but a waste of time.

Both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry had such a genuine enthusiasm for performing that it was impossible not to love them for it, there were things more highly and lowly regarded in their bodies of work but both of them threw themselves into everything because it was pure joy for them and that rules

I am planning to lodge a complaint about this ridiculous article which massively misrepresents the tiny (if very vocal) minority of “GC” or transphobic individuals in our community. Highly irresponsible and a gross abuse of the BBC’s platform. Please join me www.bbc.co.uk/contact/comp...

Narrator: it has not. One anonymous gender critical “lesbian” and one gay from Reform do not a backlash make. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has gifted over 150 million books (yes, 150 million) around the world. This is what goodness looks like. She ALSO brought us Buffy. She ALSO funded the Covid vaccine. She ALSO wrote “Jolene”. The most remarkable person. donate.imaginationlibrary.com

Again the fact that this guy is getting published in the Wall Street Journal indicates a kind of institutional derangement redolent of the the backlash to the Reconstruction and the fact that he’s using his position to characterize himself as a fearless truth-teller is less laughable than obscene

How I Became the Scapegoat in the Jason Arday Affair
I have been smeared as a racist and threatened with violence. My university suspended me. All I did was tell the truth.

IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JASON ARDAY'S DEATH
UNALIVED BY A WITCH HUNT

So Alan Carr’s PictureSlam is on and… it’s Numberwang, isn’t it? It makes no sense, people say random things, and someone eventually shouts “PictureSlam!” That’s NumberWang! (Das ist Nummerwang!)

I very rarely use the word scum to refer to a person but sometimes it is the only word appropriate for the absolute moral depravity of these awful people. As usual being a TERF aligns with being monstrously lacking in compassion and a totally entitled bigot. JHB can get in the sea

One of the right wing commentators who was gleefully hounding Jason Arday prior to his death now telling us that his “huge” (implied unworthy) book advance will cover his funeral costs. She is an absolute monster

Ep 5 of the new Repair Shop is worth finding. A cis man brings in a dress from his recently passed trans sister, 68, an artist. He obviously adored her, and the love and respect shown to her art and memory reminds you of how decent most people are, when they’re not rabid obsessed billionaires.

The TERF/anti-antiracism nexus in the UK commentariat: Kathleen Stock pre death: doing a video a day for The Times (plus more elsewhere) about how scandalous it all was. Stock post death: thoughts and prayers so much to reflect on I am very sensitive

I'm one of the people who commented on Arday plagiarism situation when it broke. I understand the haste to angrily or defensively blame others for this outcome, and I see that already happening: critics of Arday blaming Cambridge and his publishers for creating the situation;
Arday supporters blaming those in media like me for reporting the unfolding scandal so relentlessly. I don't feel like pronouncing on any of this so soon after the news; it seems to me nothing is clear when emotion runs so high.
Perhaps the inquest will help clarify. I'm deeply sorry that it ended this way, I pray for him, his friends and family, and there is much to reflect on all round.Youtube thumbnails from Times radio: “it’s racism to even question this and that’s the problem in a nutshell.

This was the first time since moving to London in 2009 I’ve encountered homophobic abuse in my city. Here’s the driver who was speeding down Kingly St which is semi-pedestrianised only allows unloading vans, he nearly clipped me told me to f*ck off then called me a “batty boy” still angry about it

Homophobic driver of Nature’s choice van this morning.

This morning, a driver for Natures Choice London cut my husband off in SoHo and called him a “batty boy”. But sure, we don’t need Pride anymore.

I see people lying every day - fearmongering about immigrants, trans people, disabled people, benefit claimants. Do they get hounded to death? No, they get cushy jobs at the Mail, Telegraph, Sun, Times and Express. So spare me the pretending that the press actually give a solitary shit about lying.
