delivery app discourse functions the same way as vegan discourse. "many americans have the means and ability to change their eating habits", a true statement, is met with middle class people arguing that THEY shouldn't have to because someone, somewhere, is poor or indigenous.

A lot of AI criticism makes me feel like someone says “the automobile has been disastrous for society” and I’m nodding along like “yeah I actually really agree, I think that car centric urban design has-“ and then they add “also it’s a scam, cars break down after more than ten miles anyway”
My 2 cents: Star Wars is best when it incorporates other cinematic works (the original channeling Kurosawa, WWII dogfight footage and Flash Gordon) and least interesting when it’s only alluding to itself (the sequel trilogy)
The strength and weakness of Star Wars as a franchise is that it is so purely a setting. You can look at individual shows or movies and say they’re bad but you can’t say “that doesn’t work” in Star Wars because anything can work, so really all criticism amounts to is “make this good instead of bad”
absolutely incredible watching Historical Accuracy people rend their garments for months over the costumes in christopher nolan's odyssey, only for the trailer to reveal that the movie is pitched in an entirely contemporary register.
sometime materialism lets you down and Idiot Man Theory reigns supreme
fellow leftists on twitter this week desperately trying to justify why it is morally fine to eat meat. just admit you don't care. be honest.
my wife watched michael clayton for the first time recently, didn't like it, and later described it to me as "a movie about george clooney getting in and out of cars". funniest review I've ever heard, personally.
living in an apartment means I limit my blurays to movies I feel like I have to see in the highest definition possible. this stops impulse purchasing, but also means that when we get a shiny new 4k transfer from my very best friend william friedkin, I'm basically helpless.
this is america. you could find yourself within 100yds of a shooting at any time, in any place. school, the grocery store, a movie theater, a block party, a public park… it happens to regular people every day. but this week we’ll get 50+ weepy op-eds because it happened to the guys who write op-eds
It really is substantially more likely that some guy wanted to shoot some people (or one man in particular) than that the government staged a false flag attack. Running towards conspiracy thinking is naive and you should be embarrassed. Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? No.

impossibly hot stud directing line traffic at the trader joe's, and I'm so flustered that I hold everyone up for a crucial four seconds
V.I.T.R.I.O.L Painting piece from last year which I still like a lot, it started as a random study of a lion before I suddently got the idea to turn everything green.

so so many people here spontaneously erupting in chants that translate to "it's over! it's over!" not even 10pm here and unfortunately I'm already getting a bit emotional
I am never forgetting at the first anime con I ever went to in like 2007, there was someone selling a print of Light and L from Death Note naked and dramatically reaching toward each other across a flower and the artist put a big sticky note on it that said "NOT YAOI - SYMBOLISM"

You ever think about how Dick Van Dyke is 112 years old and waited until he was like 93 to marry a lady who is thicker than zoo glass? Man had a century to find a thick wife then he finds one and might live forever.
Idk what church is like on Easter but imagine it should go down something like this.
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
