I would love to be hopeful, would love to say that bloodless change is coming. I want saftey for people I love. I've worked hard building something im really proud of in my professional life and would like to not have it crash with everything else. How do you fix a system this irrevocably broken.

Let's be clear: King County Detective Shawn Peckham is not a misogynist. A group of women simply conspired to kick him off an Alaska Airlines flight for elbowing a flight attendant and calling her a "bitch." But he swears he loves his mama, his daughter—and his ex-wife

I think you can learn a lot about the moderate political program in Seattle and WA more generally by reading this gish gallop from political consultant Eileen Pollet.

In case you missed it, in a (now deleted) comment on @sharethecities.bsky.social insta, I was told to make my own website if I didn’t like theirs. Now that I have finally gotten the attention of the anonymous folks at @leftycheatsheet.bsky.social @sharethecities.bsky.social, I have some questions!

COMMUNITY REQUEST DivestSPD needs help buying a new (old) computer to automate data collection. We ran our old one until it literally busted open (see pic). Unlike SPD we're good custodians of the people's money. We found a refurbbed one for $200. Chip in at venmo.com/divestspd

In less than 2 years America deployed secret police, concentration camps, mass surveillance for local PD's via camera/drone/data brokers, and criminalization of extremely foundational concepts like creating zines We can't afford 2 more years of corruption and liberal fecklessness, we need to fight

In Paris, the uprising continues. On October 18, masses of people once again took to the streets. Crowds gathered at Place de la République and in the surrounding streets, erecting barricades as police deployed large amounts of tear gas. 🧵

This is an example of the type of glaring vulnerabilities that exist in the Seattle surveillance system, that SPD has lied about, and politicians are ignoring, as they demand MORE COPS MORE COPS MORE COPS Every unaccountable cop is just another massive risk of violence to everyone in the community

Savannah police officer shared her Flock login with her husband, an ICE officer. License plate reader data will continue to be used for immigration enforcement and other purposes unless we decide to stop mass surveillance. gizmodo.com/cop-fired-fo...

“Why aren’t Americans following the French example?” Well, if a cop breaks your arm in the US, you end up $30k in medical debt, a list of charges and 3 yrs of legal costs, on top of lost wages mixed in for all of the above. Social safety nets are safety nets for democracy too.

Never forget. Defunding never happened. SPD had their feelers hurt and have been on wildcat strike for years. Centrist pols and the police union have used these hurt feelings as a cudgel to hurt legitimate attempts to reform policing in the city. Get cops off Tiktok and back to doing their jobs.

The mayor has proposed increasing SPD's budget by $68 million, on top of the additional $4 million or so SPD is getting from the year-end supplemental due to overspending this year. This would fund Bruce Harrell's and SPD's hiring goal of 1,250 officers.

Lol, Council provisoed about $2.1M for 2026 to encourage SPD to hire parking enforcement officers. SPD didn't do it but they want the money anyway. They also want $2.1M for the extra overtime they'll use and $1.8M extra for a bunch of other stuff.

In this morning's council meeting, Bob Kettle said "inflation" was an impact on costs "across all labor agreements," not just the police department's. Just to bring us back to reality, the new contract gave officers a 42% pay increase across 5 years, which is far above inflation.
